I'm finishing my prelim med year at LIJ now. I don't know about your year, but only categoricals get a choice of electives. Prelims will do ID next year. This year we all did endocrine. Subsidized housing is not very nice, but it is cheap, and a lot of third years live in the housing, so spots will be available. Residents at LIJ live all over. Some in Port Washington, Great Neck, New Hyde Park, Queens, Brooklyn- even some in NYC (wouldn't recommend the commute). Congrats on your match, the chiefs will be very good, and your seniors will too. Get ready for lots of sick patients!
