This program is a bit of enigma for me: Seems to have strong academics and clinicals, but when I met residents during my interview day they seemed exhausted, overwhelmed, and overall unhappy. Moreover, I didn't get the impression they really knew each other. I am concerned that the overall morale and quality of life is less than good. I tried to get in touch with current residents after the fact to investigate, but to no avail.

Can people share their own experiences from interview day or as a student doing a rotation? Better yet, if anyone knows people who are training or have trained there, please share what they say about the program.

The lists have to be in pronto, so any quick thoughts are much appreciated!!!

tHAT IS true, the Pediatric residents everywhere are miserable here, overwoked, mistreated, and demoralised. You are mistreated just because you are a Pediatrician with unseen tag in your back "STUPID"

As a matter of fact, Pediatricians are glorified nurse practitioners, you are offered a statrying salary from 65k to 110 k, while Ortho and EM Pas and NP start at 130-140 k, CRNA start at 200k, so no wonder many Pediatricians are doing a second residency,

Why don't you look at other programs like Mt Sinai, Montefiore, and Columbia, Cornell,

This would be my rankings

Wow, those are some harsh things to say. I think you get a pretty darn good clinical training at LIJ. Academics is alyways up to you depending on how much you read up yourself.

All the departments are pretty strong from what I can tell and I have rotated there for a significant amount of time.

For whatever its worth, Child magazine rated LIJ/NS number 2 in NY for peds behind only columbia, and before that it was even ranked above columbia if im not mistaken. google it or something - u might find it.

Still in the end - pick what you feel comfortable - if you dont think youll feel comfortable with the people and the place - then theres no point to go there. one can do well wherever you go into peds - depending on how much effort and work you put into it.

Yeah I am talking just the pediatric divisions at LIJ. Anyway, thats just my personal experience / opinion.

Wow, those are some harsh things to say. I think you get a pretty darn good clinical training at LIJ. Academics is alyways up to you depending on how much you read up yourself.

The US news report I saw only went up to 25 (not 43 or 45). How can I get a more complete list? Also, your original comment that started with "this is true..."--were you talk about LIJ specifically, or peds in general?

Good job in insinuiating lIJ/ns in the 3rd place.

The probability iof LIJ/Ns in 3rd place is akin to probability of a snowshower in Sahara desert..............

Guys if you want to have good knowledge, and want to ne treated like docs and don't want to be treated as LPNs choose some other programs........this is what my freind told me.......anyway this year its late..........

See I am in Mt Sinai and the and the schedule is a breeze and we have an excellent board pass rate

Ok, well sorry, i guess my usual sarcasm doesnt always catch on with an online post. sorry for the bad joke. I thought i had given enough hints that the list wasnt the real deal.

anyways, some people here should at least reread their post so the english they use makes at least a little bit of sense so i could at least understand the criticism if it is valid....

dr. aiges im sure is a good teacher, but hes no longer at LIJ. I think he left more than a year ago now - at least thats the word on the street.
