I have a young family. I am currently applying to schools in the Caribbean. I was wondering if anyone new where out of these two has the best living conditions?

Have you considered Sint Maarten? Living conditions were still Caribbean standard in a way, but the island may be more fun for a family...also many commercial establishments similar to the U.S. Anyways, just another option for you.

hey i'm here @ SGU...if you want to know what it's like here check my blog:

i have put a lot of pics n videos so you can see what it's like...it's much much more developed than you may think, really it's like an exclusive resort in america and you get a lot of food too, even for vegetarians it is great (actually more options for vegetarians and Indian food than back home in the U.S.)...also you should check out the SGU forum on ValueMD as it has all the topics about SGU...it's really awesome here man!

There are some great academic resources on the blog (although I will need a handwriting specialist to decipher the scans of the notes..haha). Nice work.

do not go to ross.

they don't pay people euqally. they pay a much lower salaries to local employees.

don't support a school like that!

You are too cute. Like an itty-bitty little mini cute elf talking gibberish.

and you have no heart. no one should support a >>medical<< school that exploit local people!

It is Club Med.

Looks more like a resort than a med school.
*snort* it is NOT like club med. There is no good beer here.

It's fine for a young family though, there are lots of people with kids.
I have no idea about Ross though as I've only been to SGU.

You go MGG, kill her with kindness!

and dude, it's really not like a resort on campus. I mean, the island is nice, the school is ok, but obviously DJ is either 1) living over at the newly rebuilt Coyaba or 2) hasn't been to a US resort like the Sheraton Moana Surfrider on Waikiki Beach ;)

But he's right about the food and stuff. We can get most things here you can get in the US, except the restaurant stuff.

OK, DISCLAIMER: Please do not reply with the "If you want this stuff, maybe med school isn't for you" or "Med school isn't like that" or "Perhaps you should rethink your priorities" standards. I KNOW THIS. I understand it's no party, that's why my question is particularly pertinent. I'm JUST curious.

Which of the Caribbean schools has the best social/nightlife. I understand none of them are like the Bahamas or Negril or Cancun. That said, which offers the most American style night-time/weekend fun?

I guess the most direct way of phrasing my question, and please don't be offended because med school is so stressful that the relaxation times are most important: Which school is the best for the rare times when you do get to go out at night and you wish to meet a guy/girl at a bar/club and get laid? I just phrase it that way to be direct and honest.

Beer: Carib, Guiness, Royal Extra Stout.

Go ask Colin and Sue (Taffy's) to bring back some of whatever your favorite beer is next time they leave for vacation. You pay more, hurt less the next day. I miss Royal Extra Stout- it tasted like a chocolate beer. Piton is available on St Vincents. Also, the Carib in Grenada is made in Grenada, the Carib you get everywhere else is from T&T- not better , just different.
My life as a med student there was a party. I did not go to class often, studies hard every AM, drank every afternoon, SCUBA, basketball, passed all boards, Board Certified x2, Asst Program Director Emory PMR Pain Fellowship.
It worked out well.

lol. The Guinness we get down here isn't real Guinness-it's made here in the Carib factory :(

And I don't think Taffy's exists anymore (I think it got killed by Ivan) but I sure do miss my Terminator Stout...and the Black Butte Porter...and all of the Fire Station Fives....(bangs head against desk)
