Congratulations!!!!

They are quick at DCOM. Good luck with the interview and keep us posted.
I recieved my acceptance a week ago today, so I'm still flying high!!

Come join us, you will like it there.

Well, I haven't posted on here much but wanted to let you all know I got accepted to DCOM today! Whew what a relief. Funny story...I have been glued to the phone for yesterday and today because I knew they were supposed to meet yesterday. The five minutes this morning I am away from it taking a shower, Dr. Stowers calls. Haha, typical. Anyway, I have plane tickets booked to WVSOM for an interivew Jan 11th, so I have to go. It's between those two assuming I get in to WVSOM before the DCOM deadline. Very strong chance I will be in Harrogate next August though. Merry Christmas everyone!

I've also been to WVSOM. It is wayyyy too rural there. If you think DCOM is rural. WV is 10x more rural.

Also, with WV, it is just that school while DCOM is intergrated within a larger university. I think that makes a huge difference in the reputation and overall atmosphere of the whole school. Also, DCOM is much more beautiful

Congratulations!! That's awesome!! It's so exciting isn't it? And they definitely have a very quick turnaround.

 Woo hoo!! Congrats! Depending on who you booked the ticket through you could always just pay $100 plus any difference to switch your ticket to somewhere else and take a vacation!! 😀

Congrats Crisp! Welcome aboard

Congrats to all of the new people interviewing, as well to those who have been accepted. That must be a great Christmas present.

We got our final grades today and I am VERY HAPPY!!!!!!!   I couldn't ask for a better Christmas present than those.

Hoss and Mastamark, my brother sent you a friend request for Halo. His user ID is something like xxalphabravo13xx. See you guys there.

Watching Discovery Health today is good enough reason for me to never, ever, ever, ever, ever to go into OB...Good lord.

Congrats on the acceptances and invites! Grades came out today....WHEW! I survived.

Can someone please post pictures of the campus, classroom, dorms, etc of DCOM? I originally interviewed in spring of 2007. I was subsequently waitlisted and then came very close so they gave me an automatic acceptance for the 2008 class. When I was there interviewing, we just got a drive around a building half constructed. Thanks!

Your best bet here is to email the admissions staff...I KNOW they have them...and likely have them in a nice neat file for you.

Hello, I received a phone call today about 10:30 this morning. I heard an angelic voice on the other end which turned out to be Dr. Stowers. He proceeded to tell me that I have been offered an ACCEPTANCE! I feel great, especially after visiting LMU. I love the area and I feel that it is well suited for me. Great facilities too. Also, I have nothing but great things to say about the class of 07. The way it looks right now, I will be attending DCOM in fall of 2008. I just thought that I would share that and say I look forward to dissecting cadavers with many of you and practicing OMM on many as well 🙂.

oh, and kimmi!
good luck on the interview!
40 year old representin'!
loves it!

Can't wait til i'm complete. So far just doing 100000000000 Nernst equations, RedCat Anoxes and titration combustion evacuation condensation formulas. Joe-Bob Van't Hoff is my baby-daddy homey...not to mention slimy old cretin Arrhenius and his fossilized reptile posse (lewis and bronsted and lowery, to name a few).

Merry Christmas to everyone! Today I logged 10 hours studying and am just plain wiped.

Sorry I haven't posted. Hey rose it's going to be 14 tomorrow morning in Reno. COLDER THAN A BUZZARD'S BUTT!!! Time to stoke the pellet stove.+pity+

Check the website. There are a bunch of photos of the building there.

I've also been to WVSOM and I loved it there. The staff is absolutely wonderful. Annette is one of the sweetest admissions ladies you will ever meet. However, TN is my home and I've been wanting to go to DCOM since I heard about it Jan-06. Plus the high out-of-state tuition from WV makes it a bit of an easier decision. It is beautiful there though. I got to interview back in October when all of the leaves were changing. 🙂 Good luck nonetheless!

I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on the waitlist process. Is it "ranked" or what? What is the overall procedure for pulling from it?

I'll go ahead and divulge since I originally applied for the class of 2011. I was originally put in the wait list and at the end of july 07, I got a call saying i was on the top 3 or something. I was also gauranteed an acceptance for the class of 2012 since I was so close at that point. Unfortunately, the waiting list did not even move after i was informed i was in the top 3 and I will now start for the class of 2012.

I was originally put on the list in 02/07. I did not hear anything until 06/07 when I was asked if I was still interested to remain.

I was informed that the list is not ranked. it is just a list. When the time comes closer for people to start matriculating to other schools and so forth and students start taking back acceptances, the adcom will meet and pull people from the list. So it is like they are reviewing your app for a 2nd time to see if they really do want you to come or not. I'm glad I made it through. this school was very impressive and I am glad it is integrated into a full university with many other programs.

Another OLD as **** thread? Damn man...

Doin' some pro-boner advertising?

Doin' some pro-boner advertising?

First of all, I have no clue what you are talking about
Second of all, are you the old thread police?

It's a common noob mistake (reviving/answering OLD threads) and it can be a nuissance - and then comes cross-threading. It just gets to be a big mess that the mods and users grow weary of... take it for what it is and try not to be overly defensive about it, which is typically mistake number two.

You know, there's this option you have....to not read threads which you're not interested in...

I'm worried this is what will happen to me, that had to been stressful. Did you apply other places for this year or did you know you would just go to DCOM, what did you do during this year?

I sent my matriculation fee yesterday. I will be a part of the class of 2012! After much thought and discussions with my wife, I decided the LMU was perfect for me (and my wife) and that I would be canceling my other interviews (not naming names). The school and the area is best for our situation and I don't see any other school matching or exceeding what they both can offer us. I had to wait on the MCAT, wait on secondaries, wait for interviews, wait for a decision, and, now the hard part, wait for the start of a brand new chapter in my life. I look forward to meeting you all and being your classmate.

It was definitely a suspenseful time because I was in contact with the adcom director the entire time at the end of july, beginning of Aug. When the initially contacted me, they said I was in the top 3 and that if for some reason, it did not work out, I would be guaranteed a seat for the next years class since I was ready to move from Chicago at a moments notice. Unfortunately, for me, everyone showed up to their seat first day during orientation.

I did not apply to any other place for this application cycle because I knew no other school could beat what DCOM offers. I have complete faith that it will be a fully accredited school. I have no doubt about it. Nearly all provisionally accredited schools receive full accreditation once they graduate their first class.

DCOM seems to be very well organized. Most importantly, it doesn't seem as if they are in a business to make money. It seems more important to them to provide us with a high quality education. They also have a very strong financial backing, which will guarantee funds.

Drive through please - that is, unless you both ride the short bus. :meanie:

Thing is, I AM interested in the DCOM thread.

There's nothing wrong with the secretly-sanctioned DCOM pep rally but it'd be best to utilize the current DCOM thread in order to prevent redundancy and confusion.

Mods and users largely agree.

DCOM has great potential and good faculty, no doubt. 👍 Personally, I would not be so naive as to think the financial investment from Mr. DeBusk is anything but - it's a business investment, as well as an advancement in healthcare for Appalachia (and the region). That is a good thing.

Your anger over this simple matter amuses me. Thank you...from the bottom of my heart.😍

I'm definitely not angry. In fact, Syncope82 and I reached an understanding and h/she wasn't defensive before you jumped in here hoping to move the dead thread further and/or become the new turd churn for kicks. I don't think your involvement was required here, was it?

Come on, lighten up. It's just the way it is and it's all in jest.

There are numerous levels of nonverbal communication that are missing here so don't assume things. It's ALL good. 👍

Hip-Hip-Hooray!

I guess my involvement was not any more necessary than yours, since you didn't seem interested in the topic.

As for lightening up.

I'd venture to say this thread is pretty pertinent....moreso than say "What are my chances?".

As far as the faculty goes, I can't say enough about the Anatomy professors...they are wonderful.

Right... :meanie:

Where's Nascar been? Working his thumbs, no doubt.
I miss him since he's a non-wanker and a generally upstanding dude.

Ok this needs to stop now.

Hey, do you go to DCOM currently? thanks for the aid with gasapple here

Seriously, I like NascarDoc - he's very helpful and generally cool. By working his thumbs, I'm obviously inferring he's playing on his xBox. If you two only realized I'm pro-DCOM... but we can discuss this over a slice at the Oasis later. 😀

You both need to chill-axe, IMO. MJB is totally missing the boat. I've not moved off course here:

My point still stands that this is an old, redundant thread and the mods created the DCOM discussion thread to prevent server lag time and forum crowding/cross-thread confusion - but if you think it's pertinent, then by all means, carry on. I just thought this info regarding the faculty was all covered in the designated DCOM thread, that's all.

The thing that is amazing about Mr. DeBusk is that he is not in this just so he has some building to put his name on. He is at the school all of the time making sure things are going well. He is also on the LMU campus making sure the other construction projects are going well too. He is very involved with the day-to-day activities of LMU-DCOM. And he did do a great thing for the community by building the school, thats for sure - it is definitely a good thing and I am glad to have him on my team. He doesn't seem to settle for 2nd best, that is for sure.

On the other hand, I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Mine was good, as was my birthday (yesterday). I hope everyone has a happy and SAFE New Year.

I'm glad to see all of the new people being accepted as well. Very exciting.

And yes, my thumbs have been geting quite a workout 😀

Agreed and thanks for the input - as always! Could you kindly reign in your special kids in the other thread? I'm relentless and currently operating on sheer principle alone, from which I have not deviated. I'm physically - and starting to think - more mentally well-endowed, compared to MJB. 😉 I'm just kidding, - well, not on the physical part. **Beating chest**

Don't taze me bro! Don't taze me!

And my whole point was to point out the fact that even though you thought it was a dead thread that should be left to die...you felt the need to bump it again with a totally meaningless and pointless post.

You see how it works? 😉

Syncope was not just randomly bumping old threads, you see, but was wishing to discuss pertinent facts. I see nothing wrong with that...and it has nothing to do with which school it is pertaining to.

Yes, I did a google search on Mr. Debusk as others have mentioned, and the only things I can really find is that this guy does not settle for 2nd place. he also does not sound like a guy you want to have as your enemy.

He is a businessman at heart, however, DCOM is his philanthropy.

I call :bullcrap:

Syncope answered above as though live thread (see above) but it works for your argument to take the "pertinent" stance at this juncture. Lame-o.

Seriously, it's all good if you want to take that tactic. You think this thread is somehow all of the sudden pertinent and not redundant, then that's great. I disagree.

You're entertaining me today - it's slow here at the lab.

Two words: short bus

Thanks...I also wanted to mention that 'NOOBS' always get flamed on starting new pointless threads.

I guess from this thread, NOOBS also get flamed when trying to learn from others' mistakes from not creating new pointless threads and to add on to relevant threads.I guess we flamed for whatever we do

Let me also remind others that Discussion boards are not chat rooms. If you have something relevant to add onto an existing thread, then add on

you are keeping this thread going by posting useless things. my question has been asked and if others want to answer, they will go ahead and do so, whether it is a year from now

Hey, it was hardly a flaming - but it's cool, too, when noobs are given a suggestion, fail to own up to it - get defensive, and rally DCOM sidekicks to come in here to stir it up...

No worries, I can hang with the both of you. :hardy:

Cool. I'm not derailing.

Yea, the faculty at DCOM are great - but I've already stated that in the DCOM discussion thread, haven't I?

oh come on now...isn't this getting a little out of hand?
I failed to own up to a suggestion? I did apologize in the beggining, did I not?

rally DCOM sidekicks? this isn't high school

anyhow, let's hang!

Yea, I've got some land out near Maynardville. I say the three of us get a slice at the Oasis and then head out for some huntin'. You game? I've got some rudolph antlers here on my two rotties that you two could wear for fun?

I did apologize in the beggining, did I not?

No, you didn't and you don't need to apologize in the least. It's all good. I got over-the-top kick back based on my sarcasm and then that shaved-headed gorilla 😉, MJB, came in here to do damage control due to his misinterpretation. I wasn't really giving a DCOM noobie a wedgie or anything... Don't taze me, bro!
