Thoughts? Some u biased opinions would really help... All the posts i see from current year students in the specific schools are well... Current students so idk how much unbiased opinions they are. Mainly i would just like a ranking of their rotation sites since they are all very similar caliber schools i would say... In terms of education, cost, rural factor, etc.

Every? What about Mich State, Ok St., Ohio Univ., DMU, KCU, PCOM, Chicago-COM, Rowan, West Vir. COM, Texas COM, Touro Ca, NSU, Kirksville COM?

Depends how lucky you. (Almost) Every DO school has a couple good spots, but depending on how they distribute (Random vs. class rank, etc) can leave you with one of the crappy ones.

Not the state schools, at OSU all the rotations are at the medical center and MSU is the same way. I would definitely apply this statement to all of the private ones though, even the "great" ones

Good point. That'd be my caveat. I knew OSU did, but wasn't sure about MSU or Ohio.

Plot twist, every DOs rotations are trash.

The majority of schools on that list have ALL of their core rotations at hospital sites with residencies. By and far considered trash. Yes the other half of DO schools struggle, but not all schools are considered equal. The problems are the schools that ship their students halfway across the country to rotate at some random place that doesn't have residency positions.

None of those schools will give you a leg up for residency over the others. Western is the more established school and has better rotations.
You just mean that they are all similar in terms of "leg up," with comp being the better choice. But those specialties are all attainable through those programs...?

I would prefer something along lines of maybe anes., gen surg., ob/gyn, or peds/emergency med

Honestly, super tough call. I think I'd rule out KYCOM unless tuition is a big factor as I believe it has the cheapest out of the 3. One thing that I like about LMU DCOM is that they seem to be very strong when it comes to board prep and training their students well for the pre-clinical years. I think all in all, I'd go with LMU if you want something more competitive as boards will be most significant, but for something mid/non=competitive like those you have listed above (although not too sure how competitive ob/gyn really is) I'd go with WesternU as your clinical rotations will be better structured.

Honestly don't know much about KYCOM, but just heard it's also in a very rural area and being biased by looking at KYCOM's match list vs. LMU's, LMU looks much much nicer.

If you fell in love or have a personal favorite of one school over the others, that's more significant than any info I provided here. My info is only beneficial if you really have no preference for any of them and need some random way to trickle down to 1 school, loll.

Yeah I feel the same way. I would rule out KYCOM... it's just the odd feeling right, like when we first apply we think "I would never decline an II or an acceptance" and now here we are doing the very thing. I mean it's a good thing we have options haha but the feeling is still the same. Anyways, yes KYCOM is very rural from what I hear and they want their graduates to stay in the appalacian area (as evident from their secondary). All the schools tuition seems to be around 70 ish K (including living expenses) so that's out of the picture. I agree with you in that LMU does prepare its students well for their board but from what I gather their rotation sites suffer and I mean we learn best (me personally) through hands on experience... so COMP NW wins in that scenario. Are gen surg, anest, and ob/gyn really mid/low level? I thought they were in top category obviously not neuro surg or ortho surg or derm... but still. LMU does have a "nicer" looking match list but then again it all depends on the student and what the student makes of it, for all we know the ortho surg match students might have been outliers who attended LMU because it was close to home, never know. But I think WesternU also preps everyone well. Sorry for the long rant, it's just nice to vent and have others with similar situations share their opinions. Thanks for the help!
