Are there any recruiters on here or ED docs who are doing Part time/Locums in Texas?

I have a friend who is super competent ABEM doc who is getting tired of living in Dallas. He wants to do locums, work about 10 shifts a month so he can travel. His main goal is pay. He is willing to travel to South, east, west texas as an IC.

He wants the flexibility to pick up shifts when he wants. So some months, 14. Some 8 depending on his travel plans. His current job requires him to work 14 a month which is not flexible enough.

I know of a few places that pay 3-350/hr that I gave him contacts. Are there any others out there and contacts would be helpful.

I know Emcare and Questcare are two big Management companies. Are there any others out there?

Whoa, there are EM jobs that pay 300-350/hr? Are there folks that do 36 hrs a week at that rate? How does one land a gig like that?

36 hours a week is still a pretty decent workload. Of the people I know, the vast majority work closer to 120 hours per month, instead of the 144hr month. 300*36*52=$561K, so you would be far from poor.

No contacts, as I haven't been looking for a job in some time. But almost all the major CMGs (Schumacher, TeamHealth, etc) are represented. And then there are myriad other regional groups. Honestly, that person should pick a location first, then look who is there. If he wants to be on the "standby" list for the major CMGs, I'm sure he could always hit the number of shifts he wanted in a month, but his schedule would be very chaotic. It's tough to work in a new place every month.
I don't know what the highest rates out there are. Some places in East TX were hitting $400/hr after GHEP no longer had their contracts, but I think those have since come back closer to reality.

If money is your friends only concern, look at Mississippi....also Louisiana.

I made more there as a resident than I do now as an attending. We had one gig that paid $540/hr for almost 6 months while they were going through a 'transition'. Someone out there is always hurting...

I miss those days sometimes...

I never knew residents could make that much. I got screwed getting paid 50/hr but i only saw 1 pt every 3 hrs.
