Normally, I wouldn’t consider this path of action; however Georgetown seems to be very receptive to LOI’s. My concern arises from the fact that Georgetown emphasizes LOI upon waitlist placement. I don’t see any information about sending this letter before a decision is made. This makes me wonder if sending a letter of interest/intent would have any positive bearing on my chances at acceptance. I’m considering emailing admissions for input but I’m not sure that’s a great idea either.

Should I: 1) wait for the admissions decision, 2) send the letter? Anyone have any experience with this dilemma? I would greatly appreciate some input.

Don't do it yet. Assuming things are the same as they were a few years ago, if you get waitlisted they "strongly encourage" you to write them a love letter anyway...it's tough to write the same letter twice. I tried to do the same thing - more of a thank you note, but had some "I really loved X Y and Z and feel this is a great fit for me" type of stuff. As far as I know it didn't make a difference for me. Still got waitlisted and never got accepted (though I did withdraw well before the deadline, so who knows what would have happened otherwise).
Thanks for the input! I didn’t consider the troubles of having to write other letters if waitlisted.
