hi all!

i was looking at loma linda's internal medicine program - it seems pretty osteopathic friendly, right? I wasn't able to find a housestaff roster, but looking at some of the DO school's match lists it seems like they are friendly. However, I was curious if any current residents could comment on the religious aspect of the hospital? I am not 7th day, and wasn't sure if that would affect my chances at all.

Also, was looking to do a Sub-I there? Can anyone comment on that if you have done one there?

Thanks!

There is no religious aspect to the medical training or the hospital as to how it runs or will affect a resident. Religion will not affect match.

Residency at LLU will be no different than anywhere else.

They have in the past taken DO's into their program. Western is close by and some of their students will do sub-i's

I interviewed there. Only religious aspect I can think of that would affect the residents is the vegetarian-food-only cafeteria in the main hospital.

Thanks all for your feedback. Do you think that a Sub-I is needed to get an interview here?

There were a couple of DO's and IMG's in my interview group. I don't think you'd have to do an away rotation/sub-I to get a LLU interview. A Sub-I would be useful though just to experience practicing medicine in a SDA hospital. But with that said, I was told that NONE of the current IM interns were SDA (yeah I was concerned about that too). From talking to the current residents who were not SDA, it seems that religion doesn't play that big of a role in day-to-day practice (with the exception of the vegetarian cafeteria). Generally, I thought it was a very welcoming place and a great place to learn medicine for 3 years! Hope that helps

Thanks jzyu! Perfect response 🙂 Appreciate it!
