I personally think the thread is hilarious, and I am on Team Bereno so I had to establish my side.

Slacker, UCSF, you two act like this post will offend the mayan gods and the end of the world is near.... Hmmmm..... How dare someone ever question the all-knowing doc toothache!?!!?

He represents the opinion of one dentist out of the 170,000+ dentists in the USA. I can choose to disagree with him if I like. You should try it, it is actually quite liberating.

You know what else is weak? Your application.

Easy there man... 😎

I personally think the thread is hilarious, and I also am on Team Bereno so I had to establish my side.

You know... you could have always just posted in the original thread if you wanted to revive it lol.

BTW, even though Doc Toothache can be a grump sometimes, he has contributed more to this forum than anyone else I can think of. It is important to note his contributions before you call him out like that. We may have had a disagreement at the time, but I can't say that it is ongoing. That thread, and the issues in it died out a while ago. I am flattered though lol. 🙂 Oh and by the way, Doc T has hot old man strength, and that is far from weak 😉

What is this a Twilight argument? Team Bereno and Team Doc Toothache? That's absolutely ridiculous. I already replied to your PM.

If you disagree with one of his opinion then say say you disagree with it but don't discount the whole person. "Doc is weak," joke or not.

Hey...where do I sign up for Team UCSFx2017?

I see what you are saying, but you don't see him posting "RSalha is a tyrant."

It is childish to call people that you can't see names over the internet.

Let's pretend that this post never happened

Or is it really this post, where he called you out, that has you with your panties in a bunch about the good Doc? Think what you will about Doc T, but he's rarely wrong (well, except maybe in the case of Bereno, bwahahah)

Don't get me wrong, gpa/dat scores are an integral part of your application, and a quick way to get an adcom's attention, but once your application is initially reviewed, gpa/dat are NOT everything.

My EC's, work/volunteer experience, research experience, etc. played a VERY important role in making my application stand out.
What WILL get their attention is showing how you cope with and overcome adversity, and that you have a strong understanding of the problems in dentistry and how you will help fix them.
With o-gpa placing you in the top 43% of the applicant pool, the s-gpa approaching 50% and AA at 38%, it hardly makes your metrics qualify for a Cinderella story, albeit, sans the slippers. While your EC/other items mentioned may have played a role in your obtaining interviews, you might be exaggerating their relevance to the admission process. GPA and DAT are and do remain king and queen even after an interview.

Not much of a point in talking about enrollees since you do not fit the bill yet. Besides, that's what the link is for. Your post might have been inspirational if you were part of the Under 3.0 Club or had an AA of 17.

Be careful what you say on here. I'm pretty sure Doc Toothache is on every dental school's admissions committee.

Joking aside, while I have disagreed with Doc toothache at times his posts and spreadsheets have been more helpful than most. And Bereno is a good guy. I don't understand the point of this thread either...except to stir up discussion.

"Challenge and overthrow the tyrant!"

Just when it looked like, to expand on ECs, a Crusade was in the making to take on the Middle East and the Axis of Evil, it turns out to just have been a very slow day in RSville.

Sometimes the best way to make a worthwhile contribution to a forum discussion is NOT to post in it. Breaking that rule right now to tell you all that...

We're all here to help each other and work together towards success, so lets act/be like the professionals we are or want to become.

Closing the thread as it isn't appropriate for the dental forums and SDN in general.
