Silly question: I nominated an attending for a teaching award and had to write a supporting LoR. They already know they're nominated (had to tell them to get the form filled out.) Is it customary to send them a copy of the letter? Not trying to kiss booty, I've just never been on the giving end before.

second of all, it is completely at the discretion of the author.

You don't need to send your LOR to the person you nominated. Just knowing you appreciated their teaching is enough.

They don't need a blow by blow. Epecially since you've never been on the giving end before, it's not likely to be as professional a job as someone who does it all the time. But that's ok; the time and focused effort is appreciated.
