Can I still use a LOR from someone who is no longer a faculty member? I don't think they are even allowed to use University letterhead anymore. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I don't think it should be problem, but I would call and check with schools to see what your prof should do.

2 of my profs switched schools and obviously couldn't put their letters on the old school's letterhead. It didn't seem to be a problem for me.

They are no longer in academia...have been retired for 5 years now...

If he hasn't taught you in at least 5 years but he still is your mentor then maybe this should be a "non-academic letter" (but he should also discuss your performances in his classes) so the stationary doesn't matter.
