Everyone knows there's a strong emphasis to get as much patient experience when applying to med school. Well alot of my experience comes from taking care of my terminally ill father (i.e. assisting in bedbaths, transport from bed to wheelchair, etc.). However I can't just claim this by my own word. There's nothing paperwise to make this legit. So i'm thinking of asking my father's endocrinologist for a LOR to make a note of this. Is this ok?

I don't know of any other possibilities other than to start (again) by going to my local hospital and pass around urine and poop (or pouring ice cold water for the patients). Sort of felt it was a waste of my time when i did so much more in high school. (Ironic how nothing pre-college is credible... has now bit me in the booty) All inputs will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

My question is, was the endocrinologist aware that you were helpin your father??

If i were you, i would just have the endocrinologist write whatever he/she wants on the LOR.

And as for you situation, in your personal statement, you can state somethin about the assistance you gave your father. I dont think they (the school) really need some documentation stating that you did what you are claimin you did.

just write about these experiences in your PS, as mentioned above.

Ahhh good suggestion...alrity.. gotta edit it again .... my 6th revision?

However, I think you still need to volunteer at the hospital. They need to see your passion to help the others, not only your family members. Simple advice: you must do anything to make yourself more competitive.
