Even if you send 4 or 5, as opposed to the required 3...couldn't they just choose to not read the extras? Even if they don't, wouldn't it still leave the impression that the student was qualified enough to get additional recommmendations?...assuming they were positive letters.
The schools I applied to were NOVA, PCO, ICO, SUNY, Berkeley, and SCCO. The only 2 schools that were adamant about not reading anymore than the required LORs were ICO and Berkeley. The other schools said it was ok and PCO was impressed that I could send more. I sent 5 LORs (still sent it to ICO, like someone else mentioned...it couldn't really look bad).

your time is better spent on OAT, application and preparing for interview, so don't bother more people they you have to and just send the 2-3 required ones.
