So how much weight do the LORs carry? I'm afraid I'm not very close to any of the faculty. And most professors that I ask say they don't know me very well it may be better to ask someone else. Well, I did ask someone else and they tell me the same thing.

So if my letters aren't very strong, is that going to kill me? I have a 3.62 GPA and a 370 AA and a 380 TS on the OAT. I'm just curious as it has been a pain to get LORs!

Be the people person you are going to need to be when you start practicing.

Well with a GPA that high obviously you've done well in many classes, so just ask professors that you've done really well in their class to write you a LOR even if you feel like they don't you well; they're going to know you did well in the class and the LOR will be based on that. Writing LORs is a routine thing for professors they're not going to be buddy-buddy with everyone they write a LOR for.

One thing you can do is when you ask them if they can write you a rec you can give them your resume also so they know what you've been up to outside of the class-one of my professors whose class I did great in didn't know me well asked to see a resume to help her write a rec for me.

I just paid attention to the fact that you stated you already asked professors who didn't feel comfortable writing one. HMMMM that's weird my experience is as long you did really well in the class the professor is willing to write one.

With an oat score and a GPA as solid as yours I don't think it'll mess you up that your LORs aren't very strong because the numbers hold more weight than the LORs, if you have otpometry experience I think you'll be fine

Thanks guys! That answered my question. I am getting one from an optometrist. I've been shadowing a lot the last two weeks. I've already asked another professor from whom I got a better grade than the first one I asked. Maybe that will work out better. Anyways, good look to everybody applying this year!
