This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
His post history. Obviously it doesn't prove he is a resident, but by the same token there is nothing on SDN that proves michow or SLC are medical students. We just assume that these guys aren't lying about their educational status.

Yep. Checking post history should clear up problems. I havent checked his but I doubt any troll would stay around for so long just to start screwing with pre meds.

Haha I know I was just stirring the pot a little more before I got off work yesterday 😀

I have never been in a doctors office and actually paid attention to where they graduated

I've seen their diplomas and awards up on the wall, but for me it's more curiosity, not judgement.

It's all about how you perform, the school is irrelevant. DO schools, as a rule, have much less resources in the things that matter come time for residency. They have no departments, for example. You want to be a general surgeon? Well it would be really helpful to have a surgery department at your school, with a Program Director, someone that knows the climate and can make efforts to help you get a residency. As a DO, you will be entirely on your own. That's one of countless examples.

Standing ovation for you sir👍

Spot on!

What matters more is residency training, and while one school may prepare you a bit better than others (debatable), it seems that it really comes down to your audition rotations, board scores and letters of recommendation (and greased to some point of course).

Yea from what I've gathered, the top AOA programs won't snub people from lesser-DO schools the same way that top ACGME programs do with lesser-MDs.

I really want to see someone ask "what are the top DO [insert specialty here] residency programs" and watch everyone in this thread fall over themselves explaining there is no difference because you come out of all of them board-eligible.

Of course, that would probably end up in the DO student forum, and they seem to be realistic about things.

But some do have those resources, and are IMO clearly superior for that reason. TCOM, PCOM, and probably some others that I don't care to google right now run their own hospitals, have the usual complement of departments, and thus set their students up for success better.

I think OSU is in that category too

This is a variation on the "DO vs. MD" and "if I go to a lowly DO school, can I still do X" threads that have been trolled to death. Let's move this to the Pre K-12 thread and be done with it.

:troll:
