Edit: I am trying to narrow down my list of schools that I compiled using the MSAR based on if they accept Canadians and a low MCAT (this is what I meant by "low-tier"! sorry for the confusion 🙁 ) I would appreciate any comments on this list. Thank you!

2) Medical college of WISCONIN
3) George Washington University Sch of Med & Hlth Sci
4) Howard University
5) SUNY upstate
6) University of Hawaii John A. Burns Sch. of Med.
7) Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Scien
8) Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine
9) Michigan State University

I mean, low-tier really depends more on your own stats and definitions. Many of those schools barely accept anyone out of state, let alone international (basically all the public state schools). Many of them also have very specific missions (Howard, Ponce off the top of my head)

Can someone confirm if the following are low-tier and Canadian friendly? (gotten from the msar)

Off the top of my head:

1) Albert Einstein College of Medicine Definitely not low tier
2) Boston University School of Medicine 15,000+ applicants every year
6) George Washington University Sch of Med & Hlth Sci Not low tier, in my mind
14) Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine New school that is very well respected, huge increase in apps despite this
20) University of California, Davis School of Medicine Any Cali school if difficult
24) University of Utah School of Medicine <1% OOS acceptance rate

Like the above poster said, many of the others are state schools with microscopic OOS acceptance rates. Check to see if you have a reasonable chance

low tier for me would be a lower mcat cut off

I was under the impression that Canadians need strong stats to get into a US school.

And Ponce is in Puerto Rico, as in the island of Spanish speaking people. Howard and Meharry are historically black schools. You have a lot of state schools that don't have many OOS students.

The only schools that match what you are looking for are maybe NYMC and Rosalind, but they may be looking for higher MCATs in international students

Edit: there are also DO schools that take Canadians

I already applied DO! and took out ponce from the list.

Also, as others have said, try to match your GPA and MCAT to schools instead of just choosing ones that are "low tier." And look to see how many Canadians were accepted at said schools in order to give yourself a chance! Do you have any relatives living nearby some of these schools? Not that it makes a difference, but it could be a tipping point if you have no connection to them.

Eliminate the schools that matriculated <3 internationals (e.g. Rutgers, W VA, Louisville).
Eliminate mission based schools where you don't fit the mission (Loma Linda, Howard, Meharry).
Identify the schools whose median MCAT is at or just below your own.

May I suggest a purchase of the MSAR?
You can, but OP said she got this info from the MSAR

@pizza1994 There are also some Canadians on this site. You should message one of them to get their list of Canadian friendly schools and then use the MSAR to see which ones best match your stats

I'm not saying this to doubt you at all (obviously you know more than me), but I'm just curious... how come you mentioned median MCAT but not GPA?

Case is Top 25 on US News, and their averages are like a 3.8 and a 35, I would say they're definitely not low tier 😵

How did your DO cycle turn out? If you didn't get any DO love I have a hard time seeing how you would then get love from MD schools.. Did you tell us your stats?

Not sure what your cutoff for "low mcat" is, but Case Western, Geisel, even SUNY Upstate and St. Louis have above average MCAT scores

Agree with this, SUNY Stony Brook is definitely not low MCAT or low tier.
But, again... if your MCAT is like a 30-31, most school's MCAT medians are going to be above this. You need to bring more than just numbers.
