I called this morning and was told to check back in a month. I asked about a hold and they said no, the committee meets monthly, and they'll see my app again the next time they meet.
My friend knows the admissions rep and she called today, too. They told her the exact same thing.

Yup, that's what I got today too. I thought I misheard so I had to repeat "After the first of the year?" and I think that annoyed the lady a bit. She wasn't especially nice, so I don't feel too bad...

flagged for further review, if i don't hear back by the end of December give them a call, if I am granted an interview they will call me.
yeah, same thing as everyone else, just different wording. the guy sounded like he was reading off a teleprompter, but he was really nice about crushing my hopes 🙂

I don't think there is a need to feel like your hopes are crushed. Loyola has barely interviewed anybody compared to most schools. They are very slow. You are in the good pile. The bad pile are the people who are being told they will be interviewed again AFTER the first of the year.

well thats bizarre I got a letter that I'm on hold til the first of the year but then when I called several weeks later the guy told me I had been flagged for further review and to call back if I don't hear anything around December or so...I guess I'm in the double limbo category...great!!!

I called in September I think, but I can't remember if the guy meant that I should call at the end of November or when it starts...hm. I want an interview!!!! 😍
EDIT: LOL, so I tried calling (despite it not being Thursday) and the guy told me that if I don't hear anything by December now, to call back. Sigh, I've been bumped down too.

I've heard of tons of people who interview after the first of the year and still get into Loyola--so there is most certainly still hope. The people being interviwed now are likely often the supercandidates that are applying to a lot of schools and are getting acceptances at many, and don't necessarily choose to go to Loyola.

I got the 'looked over initially to be looked at for further interview consideration' talk from the lady that picked up...I need to call back and ask if I'm in the 'good' pile...I am falling deeply in love with Loyola w/ every new thing I hear about them and the student body there

don't worry, dude. i talked to a current loyola student this past weekend and she said from what she understands it's pretty much all the same thing and not to read into any of it. basically everyone is going to be re-reviewed again and again until they are either invited for interview or rejected (but only after the first of the year). supposedly the only thing being "flagged for review before the end of the year" means is that your app was initially reviewed before the applicants that were told they will be "reviewed after the first of the year," and doesn't really have anything to do w/their level of interest in your application...it was just a timing thing.
so in sum, we will all continue to wait for some loyola love. 🙁

Last time I called, they told me I would be reviewed again after the 1st of the year. Today, I called again because I'm a glutton for punsihment and yet now they say I will be reviewed between now and January 1st and to call back if I haven't heard anything by mid-January. I can't figure that school out!

So I called last week and the lady told me that I'd been reviewed already and would be looked at again between now and the first of the year and to call back if I haven't heard anything by mid-Dec. I called back today (I lost the battle of self-control vs. possible extra info 😀) and she told me that I'll be reviewed again after the first of the year. Humph. Not cool. Needless to say, I think I'll leave them alone for a few weeks.
