Hello everyone,
I will be attending UF orlando campus. I know that UF does not support macintosh..but it's late for me now.. i recently bought a new one and i can't afford to buy another computer.🙁
I finished the uf computer comeptency assignment, the only assignment i couldn't finish was video.. which is the most important assignment....so please guys i need help.. if you know what i need to download or buy any software which will allow me to watch lecture videos please let me know... thanks a lot!!

thx aboveliquidice for the tip, but i have already tried that.. i already have flip4mac but it still doesn't allow me to watch lectures..

I've got a Macbook Pro, and ended up having to use Bootcamp to boot into Windows and watch the videos there.

I've got the Flip4Mac codecs installed also, but it's seems like the problem is with the scripting that UF uses to play the videos back. It's usually not just a video window, it's the whole Digiscript window with Powerpoint slide presentation in the right window. I still have problems trying to watch that in Windows with Firefox, so we're stuck with using IE for that.

A few of the lectures were Flash presentations, so those weren't a problem on the Mac.

Try installing Media Player.

If that doesn't work, you can install Windows XP on your macbook. Yes, if its a new one, you can. You can dualboot MacOS and Windows. Google it to figure out more information. If it's too much for you to handle, you may be able to get a computer person/computer shop to do it for ya. You'd have to buy Windows XP full install, but you might be able to get a cheap copy through your school.

Good luck!

Ok - I remember how I got it to work last time - You need to download and install Real player - This gets tricky as the newest version for Mac OSX is not available right now - I think I can find it on limewire still...

It allows you to watch the videos w/ Power point at the same time... Try that out before you go through the bootcamp headache.

thank you guys for all your inputs.... i just installed the full version of windows vista on my macbook and it works smoothly.. but i m still experiencing the video issue. atleast now when i open the video, it starts buffering and right when it should start playing it stops and says error downloading codec. i already have windows media player and i also downloaded divx for the vista.. i called the helpdesk but they still havn't returned my call.. hopefully this time they will be ready to help me since i have windows.. this is very frustrating. if u have any more ideas please DO LET ME KNOW.. I REALLY APPRECIATE ALL YOUR HELP!! THANKS

Try downloading a codec pack from http://www.free-codecs.com/ that should help with your problem. If it does let me know because i plan to get a mac book soon🙂

I already posted the audio codec link. Check the discussion section on Web CT.

P.S. It isn't in a codec pack. Don't waste your time.

it works in vista yuhoo.. now i m trying to fix for my mac.. let me know if any of you already have mac and are able to watch lectures please!!

hi pharmDJH.. will u be attending uf? if you are i don't really recommend getting mac since uf doens't support macintosh at all.. but if u already have other windows computer tht you can use to watch ur lectures.. then yes definetely buy a mac..works better than windows i would say..
or i guess you if you want to buy a mac for ur next computer you can install windows. mac can handle 2 operating system.. so far mine is running pretty smoothly.. 🙂
