12. Don’t submit on the day AMCAS opens
Every year, pre-med students rush to submit their application on the first day AMCAS opens. And every year, there are posts on the SDN forums about mistakes that students made in their application because they were rushing to hit the Submit button as soon as they could.
Looking at AMCAS Tracker data, you can see that even if you submit on Day 1, your transcript will not get verified for about a month. So take your time to double and triple-check your application and calmly submit it any time in June – and you’ll still be an early applicant.
In my activities section, I listed my capstone research and thesis. In it, I accidentally wrote “2500-page” instead of 2500-word essay. I originally had it formatted as page and then changed it for clarity, and I guess my brain autocorrected during my editing. Dumb mistake I know
Should I write schools or the application service about this? Part of me thinks that it’s so egregious that they'd probably understand it was a typo and know I meant word count or a much smaller page number, and pointing this out would hurt me worse. However, I also don’t want to appear dishonest and try to act...
