Can someone tell me the difference between catechol O methyl transferase verus monoamine oxidase in terms of degradation of epinephrine and norepinephrine. You always read that if patient is taking MAOI to avoid epinephrine at all costs but wouldn't COMT take care of this. I seem to remember and old pharmacology lecture that said COMT takes care of exogenous epinephrine more so than MAO which degrades endogenous epinephrine.

Any help is appreciated 🙂
