Just got back from jan term in belize to find 2 e-mails from mayo, ranked and hold. i was hoping to come back to a message on my cell from jane, but oh well, at least i have a sweet tan. good :luck: everyone!
 
I was looking at the acceptances and someone said they were accepted on 1/17. Who is this Shadowboricua?😕

Edit: I found him http://www.mdapplicants.com/viewprofile.php?id=7379. He seems like an interesting guy. Low MCAT-just goes to show...you never know with Mayo.

hey, i'm pretty sure I interviewed the same day as that guy. If it's the guy I'm thinking of, he was really nice and I can see why Mayo chose him. Unfortunately for me, we both had the same two interviewers, so I am pretty much thinking that Mayo will not be calling me. oh well. Congrats shadowboricua!

I had that same problem at Brown. The girl that had the same interviewers (right after me) was amazing. Even I would choose her over me.

Thank you Wawa! I am very happy with Mayo's acceptance. It is my top choice school and I feel very fortunate to have been offered this opportunity. We were all a great bunch when we interviewed at Mayo, and I am sure that the ADCOM is having a tough time deciding who they are going to accept.

I wish all of you the best! Don't give up hope if you don't get called right away, remember... most of the kids we met at Mayo got in after being on hold or waitlisted. Hope to see all of you in MN!!! Good luck with all your favorite schools!:luck:

Thanks Mike... Good luck with everything!! The last time I spoke to Jane, she told me that there would be a meeting this week. I think they are meeting on a weekly basis now. Anyway, you might want to call and check.

hey guys,

i was wondering if most of you went to rochester airport or minneapolis international? if the latter, how was the shuttle, was it on schedule and a 1.5 hour ride?

does it drop you off in some random place in rochester, from which you take a cab to kahler (or another) hotel?

just wondering what your experience was like, as i'm about to book my ticket.

I arrived at the rochester airport (RST). I didn't take their shuttle, as my student host picked me up from the airport, but supposedly the shuttle is rather painless. After all, Mayo Clinic owns the airport and it's designed to get patients directly to the main clinic center. Since the Kahler is right in the middle of the clinic area, it shouldn't be that hard to get to.

It literally is like 10-15 minutes from the hospital(s)/campus.

i took the shuttle from minneapolis. it was really easy and it drops you off right at kahler. just make sure you book your spot on the shuttle early because it fills up. good :luck: on your interview!

thanks. for some reason..all the return flights seem to leave minneapolis 6:47...mayo said they don't recommend taking one that leaves before 8:30

did you guys stay an extra night?

I did stay an extra night and I would definitely reccomend it. I spent the extra night with a student host and ended up going out for dinner and drinks with some of the other interviewees and their hosts. It was a great time (right shadowborucia?)

Yep!! I would recommend staying there an extra night. It was nice to get to spend some extra time and getting to know the other interviewees and students at Mayo.

I arrived in Rochester and was picked up by our hosts. That same night we went for some dinner with other interviewees and students. Then the extra night, as Wawa said, we got to hang out again. Great time! I would recommend staying so that you don't feel rushed to leave.
 
for the shuttle ride, the company name is rochester direct, and the reservations phone number is 507-280-9270, buy a round trip ticket because it saves a buck or two (the total will be 49 bucks)

i had no problem at all, it left on time, and the trip was a little less than the 1.5 hours it claims to take

unrelated note: I am jealous - i was in rochester (2 nights before interview and one night after) but everyone in my interview group left that day, so i got to explore rochester some more by myself 🙁
 
thanks guys. did your interviews end strictly at 4:30, as said?

i'm thinking of getting a flight out that night, and want to make sure i'll have ample time to get the 5:30 rochester shuttle to MPS.
 
yup 4:30, if not earlier. I think I was out at 4. Your last interview is at 2, and lasts an hour, then at 3 you take a tour with a 3rd year student, which lasts an hour-ish.

yes I just called, and I talked to Cindy not Jane - I told her that I heard a rumor that they may make acceptance offers later on this week... she said that they could hand them out at any time of the month and that they have no idea until they are told to call people... so i do not know what to believe anymore 😕

i guess i will just hold my breath... and keep my fingers crossed... and find a four leaf clover... and...
 
I'm with you on the clover thing. As an aside (since I have nothing productive to add)...It snowed in Tucson last night. My husband said he and his fellow policeman were having a snowball fight.
 
this is a bump for the sake of a bump - because i get sad when i have to scroll so far thru to find the mayo thread... 😱

anyhow I figure people might get news tomorrow (i think there may be a meeting) - so i guess this will make it easier for them to find!

oh and melissa - i didnt realize you were now in tuscon - that is where my dad grew up, and i like it there... the last time i was there i ended up with a baseball sized teddy bear choya sticking into my leg! fun times 😉
 
I was thinking about bumping the Mayo thread myself. Too bad we didn't get more info from Cindy.

Mike-:laugh: that happened to our dog once (of course it is less funny when it happens to a dog). Yes, Tucson is a hole. If I get into U of A (and not Mayo or my other top picks), I chose Phoenix as my campus of choice. Of course I will go wherever they send me if I get in. I just want to get away from the nastiness of Tucson soooo bad!

Well, they are having a committee meeting for sure (from an email I received a week or so ago), but I don't think anyone knows whether or not acceptances will be offered.

Shadowboricua- was your call on a Friday?
 
My call was actually on a Wednesday. Very surprising! There is not really a way to know. They sent me a "ranked" email on a Friday, after the Thursday meeting, and then I got the call 5 days later on Wednesday. Remember they are still interviewing, and they are still probably a bit behind. I think that even after they rank and make appointments, it can still take them a few days to call the person. Patience... patience is what it takes.

thanks for the encouragement, but, oh man, it has gone way beyond hoping at this point... my heart skips three beats everytime i hear it ring, so far today though it has just been my boss (talk about a let down)
 
i got rejected after my phone interview (took about 4 days)

funny thing is that they only asked me a few questions from that list, and then a BUNCH of different ones. 😡

do you think we all got the same questions? i had my phone interview on the 9th...and yea, there were maybe 8 or so different questions, but i'd say a GOOD chunk were on these forums.

has anyone called in recently about when the next batch of acceptances go out? I know i said that i was told by cindy that it could be whenever, but I think Jane might be a better person to ask... given that i have not talked with her since my interview I think i can get away with another phone call... plus i honestly cannot sit around anymore jumping on every phonecall, i am gong to have a heart attack😱

i am calling in 30 minutes (west cost time - about 12:30) unless someone knows something i do not and feels like sharing
 
You call Mike- as I have stated previously, my phone and I are having issues. I will out of town next week but I will try to make up with my phone and call after that.
