I interviewed on 1/25 and was ranked yesterday too! =)
 
anyone interview on 2/15 and get ranked? For that matter, has anyone interviewed and not been ranked yet? I want to know if they have any review meetings left before final decisions come out, I assume that they will meet this week for the last time and give out acceptances the week after.

If there are any lurkers out there withholding information, please bite the bullet and chime in!

It seems there are still about 4 interview days left to be ranked. Based upon the sizes of these days I would bet there will be one or two more days of rankings especially with the March 15th date approaching fastly.

Purely speculative.
 
I know a few folks that interviewed on 1/25 that have not been ranked yet, I am guessing their interviewers were not present at the recent ranking meeting since some people that interviewed subsequent to our interview date have already been ranked.

Since they need to fill the class by 3/15, I am guessing the final appointments will be made sometime between 3/10-3/12...so watch your phones closely, folks😉

why is it that they have to fill by 3/15? is that something Mayo has listed as part of their personal policy or is this for all medical schools?

Mayo policy, but also AAMC policy. AAMC states they need to have given out atleast as many acceptances as places in the class. Because of the way Mayo does things, that day we will know in terms of acceptance, WL, rejection.

yep-- and after that, the next important date is May 15th because you can hold onto only 1 acceptance after this date (that is why many get off the waitlist around this time)

July 21st is when orientation/first block (Leadership) starts.

so how does the whole ranking thing play into who gets those last 4 spots? do they actually tell you "hey your ranked #3 on the waiting list" or what?

Nope, you never find out your ranking. And the waitlist isn't really ranked, from what I understand they accept people off the waitlist depending on who decides not to attend Mayo. So, if someone who has the characteristics you do declines to attend, and if you are the person on the waitlist that is similar, then you probably will be the one to get off the waitlist. At least that's what I've heard...

Which is what makes me so "certain" that I won't have a shot when it gets to the waitlist. Oh, yeah, there's another 30-something female former attorney who just declined their acceptance. Let's call Phoenix! 🙄

Anyway, it's all good. I'm REALLY pulling for the rest of you! Especially those that just got ranked. :luck:

Although I know you were using exaggeration, you know its not THAT exact of replacement from the WL. No need to scare folks 🙂

I interviewed on 1/18 and STILL have not been ranked!!! 😱😱😱 I've called Marcy twice *very nicely* and she said it was because both of my interviewers haven't been able to make it to the committee meetings at the same time. I think I know of a guy in our interview group who has already gotten accepted! *sigh* I'm in a very bad position. 🙁
 
Don't worry too much, Luckymonkey! There are still 4 spots remaining and they wont give out the final appointments until -everyone- has been ranked.

Phoenix, even if there isn't another 30-something former attorney out there, there might be another team builder/head cheerleader in the accepted bunch that might decline the spot.

had to give in to the SDN peer pressure. especially when i find other people who r going insane over mayo decisions like me.
instead of calling Jane 50 times i've decided to wallow in self pity and get depressed. it's too bad that a new study just claimed anti-depressant drugs don't work!!
up till now i thought we'd get acceptances by email, and checked 20 times a day. now after reading this forum i'll go crazy over my phone!!!

n e wayz, i interviewed on 1/14, got the dreaded "hold" letter on 2/20 i think, with ranking in between. 4 spots left eh? well i could theoretically be the token for many things, so i'm hoping they haven't met their quota for liberal arts major/all women's college/ethnic minority/religious minority/and all of them together!!!!
 
Welcome to SDN and the Mayo thread, scorpia! I added you to the status list above. There may only be 4 spots left, but don't forget that there's likely to be 10-15 people getting in off the waitlist as well.... Only a week and a half left until rejections and waitlists go out! :luck:
 
I think at this point, I would take my chances in the thunderdome for an acceptance to Mayo. 10 days to go!!

*sigh* I didn't get an email last night so I'm going to assume that I just wasn't reviewed by the committee again. I'm honestly at my wit's end...what to do, what to do, what to do? 🙁

Did anyone get a rank email last night? If not, maybe they just haven't sent them out yet. Or, if you will be ranked next week with the last batch, I guess you could try to look at it as good news - you'll just have been reviewed and will be fresh in their minds as they give out the last couple of acceptances. :luck:
 
Well I will be in Disneyworld on Friday so atleast I'll have something to do with my time if I don't get a call. That said, I'll answer my phone mid roller coaster if I see that magic area code.

I'll be in lab but I'd drop my cells and mice if I saw the magic 507 code. Heck, I'd probably even take the call in the middle of my church service...

So, you applied MD/PhD and Mayo already told you their final decision? Sorry, Pickles. That's rough. 🙁 If it's any consolation, there will be a ton of us commiserating with you this Friday (or next Monday).

my spring break would suck so bad!

yeah yeah i know there's still those 10-15 brilliant people who'll have mercy on the rest of us, but can't rely on the waitlist!

I guess we're down to the final two days - it's like the quiet before the storm. Or the eye of the tornado? Anyway, I'm just hoping that they send out the waitlist and rejection emails on Friday rather than Monday. I'd MUCH rather know sooner than later if it's a rejection. But I have a feeling this is going to be a very long weekend....

I don't have acceptance anywhere either. I don't know what I'll do if I don't get any acceptance this year...especially with so little money in the packet. Maybe I'll sleep more from now to save food money (b/c whenever I'm awake, I'm eating 😛).

I agree with Kiara. Don't be worried. It just means you're in the last group to be ranked today. Usually the ranking email goes out in the late evening/early morning (after the Thursday ranking meeting). :luck:

Awww Tadeo, hang in there! I interviewed 1/18 and haven't received a ranking email either! :scared: *sigh*...I tried calling Marcy and Jane two weeks ago just to hear them tell me that my application just hasn't gotten reviewed yet. I'm hoping that they didn't forget about silly me. 😛

Good luck to you...it's tough to be left hanging like this!!!

Wow. A mid January interview and now word yet. How do you do it? Thanks for wishing me good luck, I send you and all who are waiting for good news good vibes from my neck of the woods.

And come to think of it, If you had an interview at Mayo Medical School chances are more likely than not that you have been accepted at some other places as well. Look on the bright side, we will all be doctors, and we will be able to help others and make a significant impact in their life.

🙂 It is spring and the sun is coming out. 🙂 There are so many things out there that will make you smile and be happy if you take a few moments out of your day. I am just feeling happy and enjoying life right now.
