Dont sweat it bro, you are in good company with many soon to join you (probably myself soon). That school is a longshot for anyone...even if you get an interview, according to US News they accept only roughly 25% of their interviewees.

Haha...we had this med-student from Mayo come in earlier this year as part of a med-school conference on our campus. She was giving a presentation to us about Mayo and it was funny because she sounded like she had noooo idea how she got accepted there. She said she didn't expect it at all, so it was worth applying there, because you really never know.

Maybe instead of the "LOR Request" category we should use a "Complete" category, because it seems the "4 weeks" and the time under review starts when you get your complete email. For example, I got my LOR request the same day pianola did, but I didn't get the complete email till two weeks or so after she did.

😀 Hey guys, I'm here at Mayo right now as we speak!

Thought I'd post the following tip for interviewees: staying at the Grand Kahler hotel is very inexpensive (< $45/night w/tax included) but you should definitely consider contacting the student in charge of student hosting. Both excellent options.

I've really come to learn through this whole process that I just love interviewing. I love telling people about why I want to be a doctor; I love telling people about my goals and ambitions and dreams. Who wouldn't? It's a great position to be in if you can get past the initial nerves. 😀

Congrats to everyone who got an interview! I just got mine last week (invite 9/17) after I had completed my app (LORs recieved) on 8/19. My interview is 10/31 (yay Halloween!)

To anyone who is going to an interview...how are you getting there/where are you staying? I'm from Michigan, and my drive is about 9ish hours...I'm trying to decide if I should fly or not (I've never really flown before). Any opinions? If I do fly, how do I get from the airport to where I'm going?

OK, I'm from Florida, so my options were a little different than yours are...I flew into Minneapolis and not Rochester because the ticket to Rochester was about $250 greater than a ticket to Minneapolis. From Minneapolis you can take the Rochester Direct shuttle (google it or ask me if you want the site) for about $52 (present your invitation as a discount on the shuttle). Good luck whichever you choose!!! :luck:

Planning ahead is definitely helpful...I liked taking the shuttle because the trip through the country was pretty nice. The shuttle trip was about an hour and a half.

OK, I'm from Florida, so my options were a little different than yours are...I flew into Minneapolis and not Rochester because the ticket to Rochester was about $250 greater than a ticket to Minneapolis. From Minneapolis you can take the Rochester Direct shuttle (google it or ask me if you want the site) for about $52 (present your invitation as a discount on the shuttle). Good luck whichever you choose!!! Planning ahead is definitely helpful...I liked taking the shuttle because the trip through the country was pretty nice. The shuttle trip was about an hour and a half.

Yay! It varies. We had 4 but there may be as many as 12 (from what I've been told). Good luck to you as well :luck:

It seems like for many schools, you can't really compare time from completion to interview/rejection between applicants. Different apps may go to different people on the admissions committee, some who are faster at going through apps than others.
