I was ranked 10/24. Interview Oct 6. Invited to interview 9/12. I wish I would have chosen an earlier interview date! The suspense is KILLING me!!! Today I got a thin letter from Mayo, I was about to cry, and then I opened it an realized it was a Thank you letter from the Dean. PHEW!

Marcy told us during orientation that no candidates are rejected until March 15th, but I can totally relate to your fear.

So, after writing that "love letter" in my mdapps, I thought I would stop thinking about Mayo for a few hours.

I still care somewhat about other schools, in case I don't get into Mayo. For instance, I will still goto the Wash U interview. However, if I get accepted into Mayo, then I will probably cancel and withdraw from everywhere.

And thanks, I hope so too 🙂 This letter will probably sound alot more passionate than my personal statement. In fact, it could probably been a better personal statement than my AMCAS one if I only applied to Mayo.


And I wish I could mention you haha, hang in there, the wait is long, but it's worth it. I won't be giving up hope on Mayo until July probably, but I certainly hope it won't take that long and that it would occur before Christmas

I know the feeling. I didn't expect to hear anything from Mayo when I applied. Realizing that I've interviewed already still surprises me. I am trying to just keep going and not let thinking about it drive me crazy. I've already spent countless hours looking at the interactive curriculum calendar on the website, and started a list of what I want to do during the selectives.

There's a new video documentary called "My Brother and I" at the gift shop. It is very awesome. It's only $10 and will totally give you the hugest Mayo Buzz. I recommend picking up a copy while you take your self tour through the subway in the Mayo/Gonda building.

Rejected yesterday 🙁 For those of you wondering, I was complete (post-LOR request) on 9/11. Not too bummed - there are many applicants who want this school much more than I do. Good luck to you all!

Yep.. don't worry yet, it took me 7 or so and that was a month ago, so they're probably even more backed up now. Good luck!

<<< so staying up until 2 AM tonight. Heck I was up till 5 last night writing grant, might as well.

Anyone know about how long it's taking people to be ranked now? I know Marcy said they do it every Thursday, but I'm sure there's a backlog of a few weeks. Who was the latest interview date to be ranked last week? Just curious whether those of us who interviewed this past week will be ranked in time for the next set of decisions.

I don't think that they are going to base your acceptance on your calligraphy 😉 Hang in there and relax a bit, if you don't it's going to be a very long wait!

I try to relax. Yesterday, today and tomorrow won't be bad, I've been too busy to worry about Mayo or go to the gym. At the gym all I can think about is Mayo, just thinking about Mayo gives me strength, if I had 9 clones, the effects of the difference between thinking about Mayo and not thinking about Mayo while lifting, on the number of repetitions lifted, would probably be statistically significant.

Back to writing grant. I can write a 15 page grant easily, but they limit us to 4 pages 🙁

nah it's been taking longer than 6 weeks for most of us before we got an invite. You can still call and ask though, but Marcy will probably tell that you are still under review.

when you say "under review", does that mean fee requested or letters requested? it's been over a month since my fee was received and just over two weeks since my letters were received, i know it's probably too early to be getting anxious but i can't help it =/

After you send your letters (a few weeks after) you will get an e-mail telling you that your letters have been received, your file is complete, and you are under review. After that point you've probably got 6-8 weeks until you hear anything else. Hang in there!

I'm in the same situation as you guys now but I just interviewed today so I have quite a bit of waiting to do.... I really feel in love with this school too so the wait is not going to be an easy one! Best of luck!

I interviewed in September. Got my ranked email on Oct 17. They said it would be six weeks before I heard anything, and based on the LOR request, interview invite and everything else, they are usually pretty close to what they say. I have it written on my calendar to start overobsessing and freaking out on the 12th.

So, until then, I am keeping myself in a catlike state of readiness, with one finger on the mouse button trying to only click "inbox" twice an hour.

Hmmm.. My "thank you for interviewing" e-mail said 6 weeks max until the admissions committee reviewing (and ranking) but my ranked e-mail didn't have a timeline in it for acceptances.. You ranked e-mail said 6 weeks?

people here on SDN have been saying 4-6 weeks, so you would probably get ranked some time between now and end of december.

Congrats on the LOR invite. Just wanted to say that sending in letters does not = complete. There are schools where it might even take over a month to be marked complete. The admissions has to print out or organize your application and distribute the package to your reviewer.
