Hi everyone! I will be applying in the 2026-27 cycle and I need some advice about my MCAT date. I took the MCAT in June 2023 with the original intention of applying this cycle, 2025-26. I decided to take another gap year and I researched the oldest MCAT date accepted by most schools, which is typically 2-3 years. I thought I was set since applications open in May, and I would just meet the 2 year cutoff having taken it in June. However, I found out that for two of the schools on my list, I missed the cutoff by literally 1-2 months.
For Kaiser Permanente, they will accept an MCAT score through July 2024 for next cycle. For SUNY Downstate, they will accept through August 2024.
I was really hoping to apply to these two schools. I have seen on some threads that certain schools are lenient within a few months of the cutoff, but some have strict requirements. For reference, I got a 511 with a super even subsection distribution, and I am doing way too much in the remainder of my gap year to retake it.
If there’s any advice anyone can offer me about this, that would be greatly appreciated because it’s sending me into a bit of a spiral :’)
