i am planning on taking the mcat in april of next year. however, by that time, I will have only completed the first part of Ochem and the second one will still be in process. My question is: in order to get a decent score on the ps section, do I need to have some knowledge of ochem II?

like elftown says, the ochem section is combined with bio, in the final section of the MCAT (and also the most tiring, since it'll be after a couple hours of frying your brain with gen chem/physics/verbal questions). you'll only need to worry about a few mechanisms that are covered in ochem II, but nothing overly complicated.

here's a list of topics that are covered in the BS section, from the AAMC, in PDF format:

good point coffee and tea! the aamc website is the best reference for specific mcat topics, content, etc. Best of luck studying:)
