Hey guys I just started studying for the MCAT and i just got through reviewing the physics in the princeton Review book, it is the only resource I have at the moment. However, I am kind of skeptical about it. This skepticism is due to the fact that Princeton seems to relate an overwhelming amount of concepts back to proportionality, illustrating the recognition and application of proportionality relationships, as the principal mathematical tool in solving the physics passages, is this depiction accurate? how much are porportionality relationships actually stressed on the Mcat? Their question also seem easier than I expected, is the physics in princeton review books known for being easier than other Mcat preparation books ?

I did Princeton Review (PR) for my first MCAT try back in 2004 and scored 13 on my PS. PR Physiological Science book can do wonders for people preparing for the MCAT (don't know about other PR books). Right now, I am teaching high school students taking AP physics and AP chemistry, and still using the book as my reference.

Also, I found proportionality to be a very useful tool on the MCAT. It made some calculations simpler and allowed me to save time.

I agree. The physics review that TPR has is really helpful. I would still recommend having taken a physics class before your MCAT though. It makes a difference.

I think that Princeton Review books are too detailed for the MCAT, but they have a terrific science workbook for solving problems. I would recommend Examkrackers for physics. The MCAT tests a lot of general concepts which may involve a lot of proportionality too. However, just know the basic physical sciences concepts, you should do fine. EK physics books are terrific in my opinion, it keeps everything simple and concise. That's all you truly need, however if you want to supplement with TPR or TBR, you will do terrific. Focus more on concepts and less on details. 🙂 feel free to pm me
