what does the following question on AMCAS mean? "Medical schools need to know if they should expect future MCAT scores in support of your application. Do you want to include upcoming or recently taken MCAT exam dates? " I recently took the MCAT a second time but am afraid it may be a lower score than the first time I took it. I don't want it to hurt my chances to get in but I also know AMCAS usually updates the MCAT information immediately on release of scores. What is the purpose of this question if that's the case, or once I submit my application my new MCAT score won't be included in my application once I answer no to the above question? I just took the MCAT May 24 so my new score won't be released until June 26. Will it automatically be added to my AMCAS application even if I answer No on the above question?

The purpose of this question is to let schools know to expect another score from you. Some schools will just use your first score, while others may wait for the seconds. Either way, the school is going to get both schools the moment you application is sent to them on July 30, so it won't affect you at all. But its better to be honest, since schools will then see your score anyway, and your honesty could be called into question if you click no.

No matter what you answer, the score will be automatically released.

The purpose of the question is for those who prefer that a decision on their file be held until the second score is known (a courtesy which may or may not happen).

In your case the second score will come out before any AMCAS applications are sent out to med schools, so both will be apparent on first review.

ok thank you to everyone who's commented, but should I say Yes or No, considering I have the one I just took on May 24? To be honest, I'm afraid I may have done worse on that one but they'll see it either way. Do you guys recommend I say Yes, or no? Will saying no appear dishonest?

The prompt specifically says "upcoming or recently taken MCATs". The truthful answer is yes. Any other answer is dishonest.

I agree with @chaim123 that you should say yes.
