I've got 36K on MCAT. English is my second language, and I have a hard time writing on an abstract topic under time pressure. Should I try to re-take the test because my essay score is so low?

Conventional SDN wisdom says no, a 36 is an excellent score, especially if you did well in verbal. You'll have a chance to prove your writing skills in your secondary essays.

the writing sample has nothing to do with your language abilities. it's just a matter of following instructions. if you follow the instructions, you get a P. you shouldn't retake it.

Oh! on the contrary, the writing sample has a great deal to do with one's language abilities.
