I have a friend who got a rejection letter earlier this week, but I am still clueless as to my fate. I just spoke with the admissions office and they said we may not hear until the 3rd week of April. I am tired of spending my days stalking the mailman.

when did your friend interview? when did you interview? (was your response from the admissions office about 3rd week of april based on a late interview? or does that apply to everybody??)

3rd week of April huh? The saga continues.

Anyone else heard of any more rejections, etc?

I have no idea if the friend interviewed or when it was, just that they received the rejection this week. I interviewed in early March. I am guessing that the third week of April probably applies to people who are waitlisted or rejected. The person I spoke with on the phone was very difficult to understand and really wasn't a lot of help. I find it hard to believe that they will be mailing acceptances the third week of April.

I am beginning to think the admissions office has no idea when letters will go out, or which letters are left to send. It is Master's week in Augusta, so maybe they are taking a break from mailings!!

If MCG is done with interviews, why is it taking so long to send out letters? What is the reason for sending a response so late in the game? Even for undergraduate colleges they manage to send out thousands of letters and emails by April 1; can't MCG do the same? I wish we could get an answer to our questions and know that the person responding knows what they are talking about!!

Who is brave enough to call and ask to speak to the dean and get an answer for us? 😀

I think what they'll do their best to get letters out in the next few days. At the latest we'll all know our fates by 3rd week in April.

Thats actually not a bad idea. The person who picks up the phone is EXTREMELY hard to understand.

I bet the Dean and the other higher ups in the admissions office all take these weeks off to go to the Masters. That is why the letter takes so long. They have to wait for them to get back so they can sign off on them.

Oh well. Waiting builds character, right?

C'mon, you guys must not know anything about the people in Augusta...They don't take off to go to the Master's, they take off to go on vacation while they rent out their houses for a few g's to rich golf fans!

just called. Decisions go out between 1st and 3rd week of april. She claims there will be some acceptances in the batch.

"some acceptances" does not sound too encouraging... it's friday and nothing in my mailbox. as many have said on this thread, i am guessing this means waitlist/rejection. kinda expected somewhat.

i'm really sad, guys.

Don't give up that easily. We still have tomorrow, right? 😱

Besides, we haven't seen anyone else that has heard from them. Let's keep the hope alive!

Good luck to all you guys

I interviewed on Mar 8th and I haven't heard anything yet. I interviewed for Mercer on Feb 14 and I got a letter saying I was waitlisted there last week. I was kind of disappointed in that since both of my interviewers said I had such a good chance of getting in there this year, but I suppose with their small class size and having half of it filled by early decision people makes it harder for regular decision applicants to get in. My interviews at MCG seemed to go well and my scores are all at about the median applicant level but this stress is killing me. I don't know how many acceptance letters are going out in these next batches but at this point I'm just hoping for waitlist status. I really like both schools, I just wish that one way or another I'd know what/where I'll be in August...

Is the Dean of Admissions Dr. Thompson? His title is associate Dean for Admissions, but is there another dean of admissions? Curious as to whom I should address my letters.

He is dean of admissions and chair of the admissions committee, so you can address letters to him.

THanks, that is what I thought.

are you sending a letter of intent? they told us on interview day that once the committee has made all their decisions, the waitlist is already ranked and your rank does not change afterwards, regardless of letters of intent/sonnets/declarations signed in blood, etc...

I sent a letter of intent in early March, so hopefully it got to them before I was evaluated by the committee. I had addressed it to Dr. Thompson, so my question was really for my own piece of mind in as much as I was corrresponding with the right person.

i c. i sent a rather desperate letter to the admissions committee a week after my interview in early feb. i just addressed it to "admissions committee."

yeah I addressed mine to the admissions committee as well.

what the heck. how could we ALL be rejected/waitlisted like this?? somebody is bound to hear SOMETHING soon, right?

i consider april 12 to be mid-april, this is getting ridiculous

Yes it is frustrating, but I keep remembering that my committee interviewer asked me several times to be patient in the waiting process. When I mentioned I was retaking the MCAT on 22 April he said to go ahead and study because I might not know anything until after then. I said 'certainly' but I didn't REALLY think it would be that long. Also I at first assumed he meant that if I was waitlisted I might not hear till then; I was in denial 🙁

Just got an acceptance in the mail today from MCG. Hopefully you guys will start getting some news pretty soon. I wish you all the best of luck and hope to see you in the fall.

Congrats on being accepted, my is now slightly renewed.

Can I ask the requisite questions of when did you interview and where do you live.

I interviewed between March 8 and 10, and live in Augusta.

The letter was dated April 11, so hopefully people outside Augusta will begin receiving letters pretty soon. I was sure that I was getting waitlisted when I received the letter, which had happened before. Keep your hopes up.

No news today in Woodstock, GA, anyone else have any luck?

Nothing in atlanta (for my gf)

rushed home to check mailbox (atlanta), nothing.

ok..here goes my theory as to how MCG works. tell me what you guys think.

as they told us on our interviews, class will be filled by march 30. then, i think there is probably a lag time during which they go through the file and review who should be on the waitlist. if an applicant is not even deemed qualified for a waitlist, they are sent a rejection letter (as we read on this forum, it seems as if they started sending out rejections). out of those who are put into the waitlist actegory, MCG takes even MORE TIME to rank those applicants. if you are one of the few HIGHLY PLACED waitlisteres (imaybe like ugagrad04???), there is a high probability that you will get an acceptance letter in the middle of april since some of the 190 accepted students will decline the offer by then. i really do believe that if you haven't heard from MCG by now, you are on the waitlist. i think they are probably finished with the ranking and we should all hear from them this week.

i just think that ugagrad was a higly qualified applicant who was either on top or nearly on top of the ranking and as soon as even one accepted student declined his/her offer, ugagrad04 grabbed the open spot.

what do you guys think of my brilliant analysis?

in all seriousness, MCG is leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. (that is not to say that i will LOVE them once they offer me a seat!!!) 🙂

That's plausible.. but I'll tell you why I think at least in ugagrads case not true. Say the decide by March 30 and in a perfect world they could notify the rest of the 190 of acceptance by April 5. Which leaves only 6 days to get withdrawal notice from applicants not to mention they need to get a new letter dated and sent. Rather unlikely in my opinion. On the other hand, I think you might be right in general and they are withholding waitlist letters so they can convert as many to acceptances as possible. Wishful thinking, but every bit of hope helps at this point. 🙂

Bump and good luck to all who are waiting to hear!

Well I just checked the mail and I was waitlisted. Letter was dated April 14 and postmarked April 14 and I live in Augusta... Looks like another batch went out yesterday and you guys in Atlanta can be on the lookout for something today or Monday. Good luck everyone,
