i'm from the west coast, so hopefully you guys will get yours today! good luck everyone! 👍
Yeah I got the acceptance package today ;-)
Yeah I got the acceptance package today ;-)
got the packet. got waitlisted 🙁
in socal for reference
What's your gpa? Did you have many missing prereqs for this school? Did you apply with a degree? Just wondering.
By the way, I just went to get mail. Nothing from MCPHS. darn! Perhaps tomorrow 🙄
gpa was 3.66, I don't have micro or the psych class. They said math too at the interview, but I would have disputed it if I got accepted(my school numbered it weird). I'll have a degree this spring, and would have it entering. Not sure if that means applied with a degree lol.
I messed up on the essay, I'm pretty sure that is what got me. I choked. I realized my thought process was out of whack, but I didn't have time to fix it
You're right, I felt good about my interview, but its possible I answered questions wrong. I still have a chance, its just no fun getting rejected lolAhh ok. Yeah, I wasn't so sure about my essay as well. I'm so used to typing papers on the computer as opposed to paper. shoot...I haven't written an essay on paper since middle school...However, I thought I organized it nicely in the hour I was given. It's all subjective though...it may be more than just your essay, although you're not totally out of the game yet. good luck!
So I got rejected 😡 (not even waitlisted)
My GPA is around 3.7, decent EC's, and a degree after next semester...I only had 2 outstanding classes...I'm totally confused! Why?
However...the letter seemed a little fishy...it shows in bolded letters that I applied to the Doctor of Pharmacy-Accelerated program. That's wrong. I applied for a transfer spot...Anyone else see that in their letter?
did you maybe select worchester on pharmcas instead? Isn't worchester the accelerated program?
send them en email and ask 'em about it
Ok so, I called to see if the letter was a mistake. It turns out it was. However, they still stand behind the decision that I'm not good enough to make the "final" cut. They wouldn't even disclose to me why I was specifically rejected. I was just told they look at the "whole package," which didn't really make sense to me. How am I supposed to improve my application without having an exact reason as to why I was rejected? Really frustrating!
Oh dang, that sucks. Sorry to hear it man.
Where else did you apply?
Yeah I got the acceptance package today ;-)

I'm in the 0-6 PharmD at MCPHS, and from what the Dean told us, transferring into it is damn near impossible. There were a small handful of transfers last September though, so I guess it can be done if you have really amazing stats.that's disheartening 8(. i was planning on applying for a transfer to the 6 year program at boston next year. do you of anyone who got in as a transfer?

I'm only in my first year, but I really do like the school. The building itself is amazing. As I type this, I'm sitting in a brand-new computer lab that's right across from the original MCP entrance from 1918, made from giant stone pillars and marble, which I can see through the steel and glass wall next to me. The mixture of old and new is pretty awesome.haha yeah i didnt expect it to be easy. i think theres about a few hundred that apply for transfer and only 10-15spots maybe. but on a side note how do you like the school? i know its small but i really dont mind. are you in the proffesional part yet? is it overall a good school from what youve seen?

So far, all of my professors have been amazing too. They all seem to care about their students, and offer tons of extra help if you need it. Since MCPHS is so small, it seems like everyone knows each other which is really cool. I can't wait for my professional years!!! Good luck with the transfer. 😀
You consider $27,000 to be astronomically expensive? I feel like that's on the low-end as far as pharm school costs go.They accept about 20 transfer students a year. I got in, doubt I will be going. The interview day is very easy as far as interviews go, relax. Tuition is astronomically expensive. Good luck.
Hello everyone and congratulations to those that got accepted.
I am currently scheduled an interview on Feb. 19th and I was wondering if you guys can provide me with some helpful tips.
I've been reading a tremendous amount of posts on SDN and mostly regarding the other campus. How is Boston like? (never been outside California)
I have checked out the statistics on PharmCAS and seems like they accept very little students. I have done some research on interview techniques and sample questions, what else should I be prepared for? I'm a little bit worried about the essay writing part since I'm not a brilliant writer.
If someone could provide me with a semi-detailed description of how the interview goes on (i.e. a panel, student interviewer, questionaires, etc.) and I know you cannot disclose the details about your interview regarding questions and stuff, but what about the logistics? Time frames? and the environment?
It seems that my interview time is really late compared to all you guys's November interviews. Does that mean I'm pretty much hopeless?
I am a transfering student into the 3rd year pharmacy program and I'm feeling very nervous after reading all these posts regarding other people's interview. My grades aren't excellent but I have tremendous improvement throughout the 4 years in my university. If anyone can shed some light that would be very helpful.
I thank you in advance.

Nope. It's $27,000 per year.Is it $27,000 per year or semester?(i am guessing per semester)
You know, I was really late this application cycle and missed my state school's deadline. I only applied to MCPHS and Pacific Univ Oregon. If Pacific rejects me, I'll have a PCAT in my profile and will apply/prepare to a big list of schools for next time. It's really unfortunate. I really don't know what I'm lacking...How can I fix myself without knowing what to fix?
Well apparently you've read some biased stuff. Most likely people who were making an excuse as to why they flunked out. No school, including MCPHS, tries to fail its students...that's just ridiculous. Why would a school want to make that type of reputation for itself?Hi
I would like to ask any current students at MCP-Boston some questions. Or anyone that knows any information on this.
I have been reading SDN on the matter regarding MCPHS grading style and their effort to fail students. This is mainly for the Worcester 3 year accelerated program. I am wondering how is classes like at Boston? I know that PharmD is definitely a challenging career but does the school play dirty when teaching its students? For example, do they have the issue of accepting students and purposely failing them out later on?
This would really help with the decision to attend this school or not.
Thank you

No, the interview time is not necessarily late but I guess "hopeless" would depend on when you completed your app, and naturally there will be fewer spots left now. (I interviewed after December and was admitted...) Since MCPHS-Boston is a 0-6 program, the class sizes are large and appear to be the largest among the 0-6 programs (around 300; I checked Blackboard and C/O 2013 stands at 305 at least), so the transfer numbers on the PharmCAS school page are what you might reasonably expect given attrition (I recall minimum cumulative GPA to progress is 2.7 throughout all years).
Interview day might have some of the following (based on prior experience):
1) Presentation by faculty member in a conference room.
2) Essay, which is like the the GRE analytic writing. Maybe if you review that format you should do fine.
3) (Maybe) P4 students come in to discuss their experiences.
4) One-on-one interview with faculty (probably a RPh and/or PharmD)
5) Tour of facilities (the main campus is basically three interconnected buildings on about 2 acres in the Longwood Medical Area).
As a potential transfer student, you would be wise to ask many questions about the environment and atmosphere, etc. My only real gripe is that some of these kids coming out of high school (it is a 0-6 program, right) still won't STFU when in lectures of 170+ after one semester of P1 (some of these could be termed "Massholes" from the recent Slate article on Jersey Shore) but who knows if they'll still be around by the time P3 comes around.
Good luck on the interview.
So anyone else have Feb interviews???
pretty nervous about it maybe we'll meet each other there!!
Feb 19th to be exact
Did anyone interviewed in February get a decision yet?
