Has anyone interviewed at MCPHS- Boston this year and could give me some feedback on how the interview day is run? For example, were you required to write an essay....etc? Thank you, it would be greatly appreciated. 🙂

I interviewed there. Short, one page response to an article was the writing assignment. The day was pretty relaxed, only one interview with a faculty member, only like 20 minutes long, tour at the end. There was a short presentation about the school in the beginning, all in all, not bad.

I've read a lot of your posts in this forum, and I really don't care to read anymore of them. I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way, we understand you don't like Boston, but let others make their own observations.

I'm sorry if this is rude, but it's just the way I feel.

I think you have to consider the source on people’s opinions. I am in no way defending the city of Boston... I’ve never been to MCP-Boston, been to Northeastern, not really impressed. However, if one person in this forum and a few reviews made you realize you didn’t want to go to school in Boston, well that’s ignorant. Maybe you have visited and didn’t like it, if so then I take back the ignorant comment, but let’s be real, most people who are content in Boston can’t be bothered to post that on a forum. People who usually do are the ones complaining, just like everything else in life. From what I’ve heard, the biggest problem at MCP-Boston is that they accept too many people, which means towards the backend of the 300 they accept (or whatever the # is), there will probably be students less qualified but that in no way means the teaching or quality of the program is bad. I have friends at 3 other pharmacy schools and none of them are perfect. There is no Utopian school of pharmacy!!!

Xml2…maybe it does suck there but at the same time I’ve worked with pharmacists who have graduated from there and they thought differently. Either way I think you made it very clear that you don’t like it.

I'm not blindly following his assertions; I found many sources that backed up his claims that run counter to what I'm looking for in a pharmacy school. How is it possible for such a large pharmacy school to give personalized individual attention (even with that tuition)? Also, it's not a clinically oriented pharmacy school which is evident by the lack of assocations with teaching hospitals such as the New England Medical Center or Mass General. Current students that I've talked to also refer to the school as a pharmacist factory, so I really think that it's not in the range of my schools to consider. I am also skeptical of the Northeastern co-op program.

I am also a current student of MCPHS-Boston, but my perception of this school is vastly different from that of xml2. My experiences at this school has been very fulfilling. Like Grincheola, I no longer care about the comments xml2 makes regarding this school but I am still motivated to post replies to his/her comments because I want everyone on this forum to hear both sides. I believe not everyone gets the same things out of a school, and most times, what you get out of it is what you are willing to put in. I have met some really competent graduates of this school, so I truly don't doubt the school's competency.

haha wow didnt really expect to start this whole back and forth war by saying I got in!!...but the negative comments don't really matter to me I have a goal in mind and in 4 years i hope to achieve that goal at no matter what school I am attending....but overall I was very impressed with the school, it's super nice, the area has everything to offer, I was looking to go away to school to focus soley on school...being that I am from philadelphia boston allows me to go away but a quick 35 minute flight allows me easy access to get home if need be....everyone makes the point that the school is overcrowded but hey u can also look at it another way, more life-long friends for me too meet, either way I'm going in with an open mind...and I plan on making the best of my experience there... in 4 years I plan on having the same degree as everyone else across the country that is graduating in that year, no matter what school I attend...but for the people who defended there school, thank you because be proud of your school and all the work you have put in so far because in the end it will all pay off! Also, if you currently go to the school or will be attending next year get in touch with me because I would sure like to meet you!

I have been really impressed by the dedication and knowledge some of the professors possess here at MCPHS. For example, we just had a new faculty member last year - Dr. Atef - who is a graduate of this school, and she seems so knowledgeable and can explain the contents of pharmaceutics in such a manner that not only do I understand the material, I am eager to learn more. Overall, the past semester here have really increased my interest in pharmacy and motivated me to strive to become a better pharmacist. I feel that most of the professors here want to see us get the most out of our education. Also, I have met some graduates of this school who are all very competent and if they are any indication of my future as pharmacist, I am very content.
I think Boston offers a lot of opportunities - with the ideal mixture of academics and social life. By no means am I indicating that MCPHS is perfect because there are many amends to be made. I do appreciate your comments xml2 and I do agree with some of the critics you made about the school. Just as how people on this forum have different opinions on the value of community college education and which retail chain is better, I think everyone's input - good or bad - is valuable because it offers more insight into a particular situation.

Thank you so much for this feedback on Boston. I am glad to hear some positives about the program, and your advice is very intelligent and well thought out.

Unfortunately this school has acquired a bad reputation on this forum, but hopefully with people like you contributing the other side of the story, people won't feel so negative towards a school that actually has an outstanding tradition (I realize saying this will spawn some people to write back "Where did you get your information? How do you know it has an outstanding tradition?" It's the second oldest pharmacy school in the nation, and it is still around, that has to be good for something!)

3.7 g.p.a, over a year pharmacy experience, a B.A. in biology and research with my genetics professor. They don't require the pcat but they do require your high school transcript, mine was really bad 🙁, but I still got in!
