hey congrats to all, I am a P1 at MCPHS-Manchester.... since we are a joint class and there is no class of 2012 thread on here, I figured I would just let people know to message me if there are any questions. I havent been on here in a while studying for school but Ill have a month break and will take some time to answer a few questions from nervous interviewees, I know it really helped last year. Oh and btw, I have read some threads in respect to Manchester and some of it is not true, not all classes are thought from Wor, in fact pathophys is taught from Manchester, which is one of your 4 credit classes in the fall. I like the fact that are class is small (54 in Manchester) has lead us to study together and we for the most part try to help each other. Im not saying that doesnt happen in Wor, but for me it was a good fit, and I didn't want to go to Wors, I guess its really personal preference.
To the people commenting on interviews, I dont know about Wor, but in Manch, I think a lot of people that they interview they are interested in taking to be blunt. They want to meet you and see how you do in an interview and how you write and whatnot, as a pharmacist it will be important. However, there are some people in the class that English is a second language and that still didnt preclude them at all... you have to take a writen and language proficiancy exam when you start and if you dont do well you have to go to a few (i think 3?) conferences to brush up.
In respect to the program, everyone learns different BUT a few thoughts, suggestions, ideas for what its worth. DONT go in and think that since you did great in undergrade that its going to be a breeze. I had a 3.9 gpa as an undergrad, plus I had a masters degree, and I still thought it was hard and I had to constantly dedicate myself to make sure that I was still getting good grades. ALL the p2's have told me to do well the first year and boost your GPA as high as possible because your second year is harder with theraputics... One class that hit a lot of people for the p1's was US healthcare, I actually liked the class because of my background, but Professor Lahoz is very tricky and picky on her exams, you MUST read the book, and I implore you to read and keep up with it. In the fall you will have 20 exams and 6 finals, so even if you dont do well on one, you still have a chance to rebound, but dont try to play catchup. Its a good feeling taking a final and know that even if you get a 40, you'd still pass the class, is a huge stress release
anyway, enough for now, but congrats again and for the ones that do end up in Manch class of 2012, I will be seeing you in the fall
