Since I saw a MCPHS thread started for Manchester Fall 2010 applicants, I figured I would start one for the Worcester campus. That said, has anyone heard from the Worcester campus recently (i.e., interviews)?

From what I have heard and read in the past forums, it seems they begin to send out invites around mid-October and usually begin the actual interviewing process by the beginning of November.

Nonetheless, if anyone knows or hears of anything, definitely keeps us all posted. Best of luck!!

No words so far. Did you get "completed application" mail like others from Manchester campus?

Hey Adream!

No I did not. However, I did speak with admissions (few days ago) and apparently we'll hear from Worcester real soon.

I'm assuming you also didn't get one?

Really? Are you talking about MCP-Worcester? I know MCP-Boston is sending out acceptances for highschool students though.

Congrats !

Hey ANPharmPk,
I just got my Worcester invitation last week and I'm scheduled for an interview in November. Would you please give me some pointers on what to expect at the interview, as well as the assessment essay? Thanks 🙂

Not really too much to know. Just know yourself inside and out and why you want to go into pharmacy. Be prepared for a 1-2 hour tour of the school and 2 interviews (one with the admissions coordinator and another with a faculty member). It'll feel like a long day, that's for sure! I think I came at around 8 am and left around 12 or 1 pm.

And the assessment essay is very simple (and the topics aren't very difficult). You get about 30 minutes, but most of us finished before that time.

I was accepted about a month after (because my interview was before their Spring Break), but I declined admission for very personal reasons.

Good luck to you!

I don't know if it's just me, but I haven't heard anything from this school. I applied at the end of August. I haven't even received confirmation that they received my application or anything. So, I guess this school goes down on my rank.

I had my interview at MCPHS - Worcester 2 weeks ago and also found out I just got in!!! Good luck to everyone!!

Does anyone know how long after they cash your supplemental application fee that they send you a letter to confirm that they have received your application material?

I never got any sort of confirmation letter... about 2-3 weeks after I submitted, I noticed that on PharmCAS in the Supplemental Materials section it said that they had received both my application and my supplemental. About a week after that I received an interview invite. I submitted end of september, and received my interview invite in the mail yesterday!

Anyone from Cali get an interview invitation? If so, where do you plan to fly to? Providence, Rhode Island or Boston, Massachusetts?

I'll have my interview on Nov. 18th and am from CA ... anybody on the same boat?

I Called today the office of admission and asked about the status, they told me my application is complete and I should hear from them within the next 2 weeks at most

My opinion: fly into Boston and then take the commuter rail to Worcester. There is a train stop about a mile away from the school. Here is the website for the train: http://www.mbta.com/

Good luck!

Yea that is exactly what the admissions counselor told me. However, she said that if I planned to rent a car then it would be best to fly into Providence, Rhode Island. But I think I will choose the flight to Boston. I wanna check out that place for a bit anyway! Thanks for the wishes btw! 🙂

After you submit your PharmCAS it takes about 2-3 weeks for PharmCAS to process everything (GPA, letters, etc). Considering your supplemental application is already in file when your PharmCAS arrives at MCPHS and everything else is complete, I would say another 2 weeks for the school to contact you (by mail). Good luck!

I submitted my supplemental to MCPHS Worcester in August, submitted my Pharmcas in late September and Pharmcas received everything and mailed out my application to my designated schools on November first. But my question is...why doesnt my supplemental show up in the supplemental section of the pharmcas application.

Hi,

I was wondering if you would be able to tell me something about the interview and essay question. What kind of questions do they ask at Worcester, and if essay is general or personal (your fav. book, why you have this experience etc.)

People who've interviewed there before can't disclose the particular topics asked on the writing sample. However, the topics are not all that difficult. If you're a bit rusty, start out by practicing the general 5 paragraph essay.

Congratulations to everyone on the acceptances and interview invites. I submitted my pharmcas about 2 weeks ago and I haven't heard anything yet. Can those who have gotten accepted or invited for an interview please share their stats? Thanks!

My GPA is 3.4 and my pcat was not so great (above average...didn't do well on quantitative section). I have a BS in biology and BA in psychology and am currently working on my masters.

I got accepted about a week ago. My GPA is 3.8 but i didnt take pcat since its not required. I would say that with BS/BA and 3.4 you have a pretty good chance for interview. goodluck!

hey birdman1,
Congratulations on your acceptance, I applied for MCPHS in mid September, two weeks ago I received a letter to inform me that they have received my application and that I should hear form them soon. I have a GPA of 3.85 but still have one semester to graduate, I work for Walgreens and I have done some extracurricular activities here and there. What are my chances? When do I expect to hear from them?

hey i also have one more semester to graduate 🙂 with GPA of 3.85 you are obviously a very strong candidate. its hard to predict when you will hear back from them. you can always give them a call and ask whether they sent something out or not. good luck!

I had an interview at Worcester campus last Tuesday but haven't heard anything yet. So nervous... 🙁:scared:

Does anyone know how long the interview day is?

rxplz,

My interview was scheduled at 1:00pm but Kate told me to arrive to the admissions office by 12:30pm. After 30 minutes of writing an essay, I had an interview with a faculty and then a tour. When I walked out of the MCPHS building, it was almost 3:45pm. Good luck on your interview!!

Hmm so roughly a 3 hour day huh. That's not bad. Thanks for the info!

do you know how many people got accepted so far? I wonder if there is any spot left now !!

Coconut,

The front admissions lady told me that they interviewed approximately 30 applicants as of 11/10.

only 30 interviewed? wow, i thought they'd have interviewed more than that by now.

kate told me that they interview monday through friday (although i didn't ask how many interviewees are at each day).

i can't wait to go to boston/worcester. i've never been to the east coast, so hopefully it will be an exciting experience. btw, for those that interviewed, where did you stay at? i'm trying to decide which hotel to stay at, so i'd love to have your input.

thanks 🙂

Hi Everyone,

For those of you who are nervous about the interview process, don't be! They give you some pretty easy essay topics to write about and then you do a brief interview and a campus tour. Everyone I met was really nice and I recieved an acceptance letter on Saturday, after interviewing on Tuesday.

That's interesting, I interviewed in early November. Have you narrowed down where you're staying? There are plenty of hotels in the area near the school but if you've never been to Boston before, it's probably worth it to stay somewhere near the airport and take the commuter rail in, the stop is right near the school.

There are plenty of hotels in the area near the school but if you've never been to Boston before, it's probably worth it to stay somewhere near the airport and take the commuter rail in, the stop is right near the school. Boston is much more interesting city that Worcester!

I know. I was really scared after she told me the numbers. Thats why I was super nervous after the interview. She told me she couldn't remember the exact number. After 20 sec, she gave me the "approximate" number.

That makes sense then. Have you heard anything yet?

This is what I did this past spring. You can either travel by car or train (to worcester). It doesn't matter. I'm not sure which takes longer. I'd investigate it with Google Map. However, by car, I it took about 40-45 min to get to worcester. Oh yeah, bring a GPS system if you have one. It's really helpful!

Anyway, the night before the interview, I stayed at the Hilton. It's a few minutes walking to MCPHS, which was very convenient for me (especially if you don't have a car).

Then, after the interview, I went back to Boston to check into a hotel near the airport (there are dozens to choose from) and spent the whole day in the city. I left the next day in the morning or night (can't remember).

Have fun!

PS: I was accepted about a few weeks after my interview. The extra week delay was because they had spring break the week after, so everyone was off. I later declined my acceptance for family-related reasons. However, this time, I'm back at it again....but I applied to the Boston campus this time, which is a bit more competitive than Worcester (less seats available).
