Hello, I was just wondering when people interviewed and when they received an acceptance letter? I interviewed on Nov 28th, and haven't received anything yet. I live in CA, so I thought it might take longer to receive anything by mail. I've noticed that some people have received an acceptance letter within 2 days of their interview date. Unless they live really close to Worcester, or the admissions people send out letters overnight, I'm not sure how are people receiving mail that soon. It's making me really nervous... =/

nobody here knows how many seats are left...

what are your stats?

Hello, My stats- I have a Bachelor of Science Degree, Minor in Chem. 2 plus years pharm experience, Certified pharmacy tech, lots of volunteering experience and currently working on my master's. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and pharmcas is taking too long to process my apps. I've submitted it about 3 weeks ago 🙁

Well, if your GPA is at least a 3.0 (3.2 or 3.3 to be safe) I wouldn't worry about your app and you should get an interview. Then again, I don't know how tough the admission process is later in the game, probably tougher to get into later.

Same here, received my letter pretty much next day...then again, I live 30 miles away from MCPHS Worcester, so may bet that's why.

Anyone know how many applicants and interviews this school does?

Thanks for that info. My GPA is currently at 3.2. Did horrible in my PCATS but I'm glad Worcester doesn't require it. I'm still hoping for the best :xf:

Still waiting for a response from MCPHS. I called Kate today and asked when the letters were sent out for students who interviewed on Nov28th, and she said the letters were sent out the 29th. I still haven't received anything yet. Anyone else interview 28th or later?? Geez, is it b/c of the holiday season?? I am dying over here, checking my mailbox everyday... 🙁

Hey! Just curious... did you get the letter a week from your interview date 11/19 or from your admission date 11/21?

Anyone here that will be living on campus? Did you give your housing preferences and your deposit fees yet?

Also to current students, why would the Lincoln housing be less expensive than the on-campus housing?

1 person in Lincoln is 6.9k/semester compared to 7.2k/semester for a 3-person on campus room.

What gives?

^ That is one-person VS. three-person housing, so Lincoln is more expensive.

Which place is better to live at? Which one are you choosing?

Just like to know the differences....

If any current students are reading this, pls send me a PM so I can ask you a couple of questions about the MCPHS housing and all...

Thanks brahs.

^Wondering the same things about on campus housing!

Sent in my deposit today! Yay Class of 2015! 😀

also, is there an official MCPHS Worcester housing thread yet?

Just got the confirmation that they received my deposit via snail mail yesterday. Next up, sending all of my transcripts again since PharmCAS wasn't good enough and making sure vaccinations are up to date. See you all (who are attending) next year c/o 2015! 👍

Hello peoples, I am currently a P1 at Worcester.

About the housing, I would suggest living off campus. The school has no cafeteria/meal plan yet and the housing costs about 7 k to 10 k a year on campus. The ones on lincoln street don't even have a kitchen, it's a renovated hotel room so you're pretty much stuck ordering food every day while paying 600 bucks a month for the cheapest room. If you split an apartment with a few peeps (there's an apartment complex on Main St near the bank of america thats like 1/8th of a mile from the school), IT'S MUCH CHEAPER. My friend is paying about 340 dollars a month for housing. Don't pay more than you have to.

Also, when you attend, watch out for US Healthcare and don't overlook it. Although it is a sociology class, it's harder than any science class you will ever take in the first semester.

Hi everyone, I was interviewed on 12/09 and waiting for a respond from the school. My question is will the admission office call students to let them know if they are accepted or they will send the result via snail mail only? I read above that MCPHS do call students... and I haven't received any phone call yet..... anxiously waiting....

Hello, do you mind sharing your stat?? I applied back in November but pharmcas haven't even mailed my application yet although all my transcripts were submitted to pharmcas on time. I am so worried that this will decrease my chance of even getting an interview since I know that MCPHS has a rolling admission. But I hope my stats will outweigh it. :xf:

Not sure how this info will help your chances, but sure. Good luck.

Sci GPA: 3.59, Overall GPA: 3.74, PCAT Composite: 85%, BA Chemistry, CA Licensed Pharm Tech, PTCB, BUT not a lot of experience as a pharm tech, No research experience either, Decent amount of community service, and 6 years in the Navy as a Nuclear Electronics Technician.

I didn't get any call and i did not call them, but my acceptance letter came 5 days after my interview. So yours might be on the way to you. Goodluck

thanks for the info. When you have a minute. Can you post the name of that apt complex that is on main street.

I received a snail mail letter about 4 days after my interview that was dated the day after the interview. They generally do not call. My acceptance letter was a large envelope...so look for that. Good luck. I know the waiting is tough...

pharmcas will email you when your application is complete. Generally within one week of that email, they send out the package to designated schools. You may be missing other items besides the transcripts. Just call them, they are very helpful.

You guys on this forum are awesome, thanks for posting the route to worcester from logan, I took the train and the silver line bus and I have to say that was the best route and cheapest too. I am officially Class of 2015. The interview was the best interview I have ever had. The writing part was very simple and out of the 6 question I could comfortably ans 4. my interviewer was very nice and she even opened doors for me. The staffs were so kind and made jokes, and that really helped me with my nerves. Got accepted 2 days after interview, AWESOME!!!🙂 If your interview is coming just relax you will do fine. I have BS in Medical Laboratory Science, PharmCAS calculated Cum GPA of 3.7, MCPHS calculated preq GPA of 3.85, shadowed a pharmacist for about 2 weeks, Member and licensed by American Society of Clinical Pathologists(ASCP). and I'm practicing Laboratory scientist. I don't have Pharm Tech experience and i have only volunteered one day at a church, I helped serve food to the homeless. Be yourself, show confidence, let them know you can do it, thats it. Goodluck😍

We have similar situation, If you got Bachelors degree here in USA, from a university here in USA, you do not need TOEFL, I did not take TOEFL and I am class of 2015 already.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I just wanted to know if MCPHS really likes applicants that are BA holders. But then again, they also consider GPA, experience, LOR's, personal statement and the whole nine yards lol

Thanks, I called them today and they said my application is in line to be mailed out. They said it would take at least 3 to 5 days though but its better than "my application is not complete" answer lol. :xf:

Hey class of 2015!

I'm a new member here and wanted to make some friends before attending MCPHS (Worcester) next year. I guess to those who are still in the application process, good luck guys and hope to see you in 2012. Since everyone is putting up their stats and if it helps applicants, I guess I should post mine as well.

BS Biology (UCSD)
Pharmcas Overall GPA: 3.82
Science GPA: 3.67
Work experience: 100+ hrs
community work: 200+ hrs

Does anyone know what they're doing regarding housing? Oh if anyone wants to know specific details about the interview, please feel free to message me. Members belonging this forum have all been awesome, just trying to do my part. 🙂

I'm trying to figure out where to live too. I've been looking to outside areas such as shrewsbury, milbury, and grafton which are all within 15-20 min away. I've also looked at living in the city of worcester in those high rise apt's, but most of the apts that I have seen near the school don't have washer/dryers in the unit. If anyone knows of some apt's that have w/d in them, that are nice, and are closer to the school...please let me know. thanks

I have as well and they're fairly cheap, but driving would mean that parking would be terrible and taking the commuter rail would mean that it'd be a long walk. 🙁 Do you know if a studio on campus would cost the same as living off campus?

When are you all planning on moving there? I plan to make the drive from Cali end of July or early August. Gonna try to find a place when I get there and check out the area before the semester starts.

not sure....but many people on sdn have stated student housing is expensive to live. At least no drive though. I wasn't interested in student housing at my interview so they really didn't go over costs, etc. Does anyone know the official start date.

Yeah, I'm not staying in dorms. According to PharmCAS, official start date is September 4th, 2012. (http://schoolpages.pharmcas.org/publishedsurvey/430)

Official start date is usually the day after Labor Day, but you will have 2 days of orientation the week before. Last year it was the Thursday and Friday before Labor Day.

A friend of mine was able to get a studio at 25 Foster, but the rent is expensive (over 11K per year). 25 Foster is better if you like to have a kitchen. But getting a single at 25 Foster is very doubtful. Most 1st years get in the higher person rooms because everything is on a lottery system. Off campus housing can be cheaper, especially if you can find roommates. If you get off-campus housing that requires you to drive in, just know that on-campus is parking is VERY limited, and residents get priority. Most off-campus students won't get parking permits. The local garages run about $100 a month for parking vs. on-campus which is $120 a semester.
