I have supreme faith in Prowler's ability to "investigate" the identity of Kiwi. I am even more confident that this will, in fact, scare the bejeebus out of the poor lass.
Congrats on your decision, Chulito! Seattle is such an awesome city. Are you from there, or another part of the state? Have you ever been to the Zig Zag Cafe? It's considered among the cocktail-geek crowd (of which I consider myself a member) to be one of the best bars in the nation. When we visit my cousin-in-law out there sometime soon it will be one of the major destinations on our trip.
(not that I'm saying it's a bad thing, but that's something I need to know when choosing roommates: Spam or not?)
I've been in Seattle since 1992. I grew up in Tacoma (from the time that I was 1 year old), which is just 30 miles south of Seattle, so moving here didn't really feel like moving to a new city as much as moving to a cooler neighborhood in the same city.
I don't know the Zig Zag Cafe, but I'm going out with some friends tomorrow night and I'm supposed to come up with the plan, so I'll suggest it. It's not one of those $15-per-drink places, is it? I'm poor folk.

Be nice to me! Don't scare them all away. Besides, spam is delicious! No one will break this habit, ever! If you've never tried spam, you're missing out!
I was going to move in with someone else but I'm horribly allergic to cats! =(
Spam is in fact delicious. Especially as part of a musubi.

I heart spam! I would definitely go to a spam festival. I almost want to do a spam fundraiser...I'm sorry I said that 😀

A spam fundraiser? Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, baked beans, Spam, Spam, and Spam?
Ok, you finally need to watch the Spam sketch from Monty Python's Flying circus.
I'm pretty sure I've said this, but the best McD's food is Spam, Portuguese sausage, eggs and rice for breakfast. Every McDonald's in Hawaii sells it. mmmm mmmmmmm
the Brewer's need a Portuguese sausage to run for them now too.
That would be awesome. Since it's more of a Hawaiian thing, it could wear a grass skirt.
Are you sure it's not more of a Portugese thing?
Hey, guys. How y'all doing? I've missed you, but figured that I should leave this thread to people who are going to go to MCW instead of posers like me. However, since I know that you've all been on pins and needles waiting to find out where I will be in the fall 🙂rolleyes: ), I'm writing one last time to give you the final update. The decision is in, and I'll be at UW in Seattle (my state school, remember). Good luck to all of you soon-to-be MCW peeps, and much love to you long-timers who made me feel so welcome there.

Didn't you know that Hawaii is so culturally diverse that they can co-opt the best things about every culture around the world and take credit for it? They're like the Borg with suntans.
Good luck to you, and congratulations! Too dark for me up there, but you go!
Fifty-four forty or fight!😕
Seattle isn't in Alaska. We're a couple hundred miles south of the Canadian border, like Milwaukee.
Fifty-four forty or fight!
or at least the 49th parallel

All right, you're a little further south. But we do have normal days here, like from 6:30 or 7:00 to 5:00 during the dead of winter (when, I might add, it's 35-45 degrees out at noon).

Try moving farther inland. You'll see - it definitely moderates temperatures, especially in the summer. The difference between Whitefish Bay and Brookfield can easily be 15 degrees, plus the nice breeze off the lake and better shade trees than the newly sprouted McMansion neighborhoods farther west. We've got a big lake here, and it sure doesn't seem to moderate our temperatures. It's frigid. My feet were numb to my ankles last night.

Make sure you order an Aviation or a Pegu cocktail. <snip>
I expect a full report of your experience afterwards. Seattle is a great town to live in during the recent cocktail revolution many parts of the country are going through...there are lots of other bars that are known for their attention to quality, but the Zig Zag is a good place to start.
P.S. - Chulito's lake is a lot bigger than ours. 😀
Pssst, "lake" = ocean. I was making a funny. It's not the lake. It has to do with being between the ocean and the mountains. Vancouver (BC), Seattle, Tacoma (the redheaded step cousin of Seattle) and Portland (OR) all have the same weather, even though the lake is only next to Seattle. As soon as you go east of the mountains, however, you have the four seasons of the midwest.

bringing it back to life.
We've been over in the 2009 thread. 😉
C'mon, don, the fastest way to kill a thread is to have you post in it! if you want to keep them alive, don't post! 😛I was just lamenting that fact that there used to be (hyper)active four MCW threads around here.
Too bad it's finals/boards season. I really need stuff to do this month. 😴

Hey now, I thought I'd passed that title on to Splat.
I think I'm going to study pretty hard core for the entire month before finals. I don't think that will be enough but that is all I have in me.
hmmmm, methinks your assumption is wrong for the both of usthat's more than I ever did last year. but then again, you probably want a higher grade than I got, too.
It still pisses me off that I can't buy a can of Mountain Dew at school any more. Now I have to pay the extra $0.55 every time I want a soda, and I get a 20 oz bottle too, increasing my daily intake. I really wish we had some fridges in the student lounge so I could keep a few Dews in there (which only cost about $0.20 apiece from the store).
The profit margin on this stuff must be pretty nice - maybe I'll keep a few vending machines in my practice.
Um, I haven't left the school since I got here at 10am, and I think the last time I was in Wal-greens was in Las Vegas. My wife does all the shopping and errands for our household, since no tengo el coche.i hope you were getting some soda at Walgreens today too, because I can't say I've ever seen a grown man that would be comfortable buying everything else were carrying in there this afternoon.
