Hey mdLA I'm in the same bind you are. I'm moving out to MCW this fall from Los Angeles, CA and I don't have a place to live yet. I haven't received an info packet either. Maybe it's because I never turned in the roomate questionaire. Are you planning to fly out to MCW before school starts to look for a place?
 
If you guys/girls need some help, send me a pm. I'm bored till I go to the caribbean. 🙂

Nice to see someone from LA, especially a fellow Bruin. I just got the packet with the roommate info and Im gonna send that in and probably fly in a week or so early to check out the area. Let me know what your gonna do.

Also, assuming our desperate cry for help from the mods gets some results, I would also like to request an opportunity to become the moderator of the various MCW threads in the Allo-Class section. I'm very good at wielding power responsibly, just ask my cat.

One of my friends from Salem just had someone tell him he had a funny accent (the attending who told my friend that was Indian I guess -- maybe he was used to hearing people telling patients to "stahp" smoking).

whoa whoa whoa...You can't just SAY that in the pre-allo forum. The is like the Middle East of SDN. There are territorial battles being fought here.

But, yeah, the DOs have a monopoly on the infomercials. I plan to change that.

Oh, to make this relevant...I heard a rumor that MCW is going to require a PhD and 5 years of postgraduate research from applicants next year. Yep. That's truth.

I had no part in bringing this here. Congrats to all of you for your hard work in bringing this thread to its rightful home.

Now we'd better get working on corrupting it into another class of 2009 thread. Here's a thought for starters: I'm listening to Dr. Hillard's pharm lecture on alcohol while drinking a delicious mint julep. I had mint sprigs left over from a recipe for dinner so I figured this would be my one chance to legally be experiencing the lecture topic while listening to it. Mmmmm, bourbon...😍

Sorry, I'll be in Florida celebrating St. Patty's with people of actual Irish heritage (last name Murphy). I would totally hang out if I were in town, though, especially if you quoted my post because you want to sample my growing collection of awesome cocktail recipes.

I wonder if Funk already left for Hawaii...hopefully he isn't leaving me high and dry at the Sat.Free Clinic next weekend.

pretty sure he's long gone. i even thought about going to clinic this saturday just for something to do.

Boca brats...tell me more. I'm sure nothing can surpass my love for Johnsonville brats, but the fact that they supply 100% of your saturated fat RDA has deterred me from eating them as often as I like. Are the Boca's any good? I've had the burgers and didn't think they were horrible.

i'll let you know when i muster up the courage to try one. i myself am a fan of the burgers.

i did, however, load up a can of spam into my cupboard to offset any health benefit of the boca brats.

Nice. I'll bet Ashleigh would be proud of you, being from Hawaii. (Isn't SPAM really popular there or something? I think I might have made that up, but I'm pretty sure I saw it on TV or in a movie.)

Yep. Hawaii eats the most Spam per capita of anywhere in the world (12cans/person/year) -- I don't eat THAT much.

The person who would've been able to cook it (Lisa) cuz she could actually stand up for more than 2 min without feeling faint (me = post-op) wasn't at my apt that night. I think I ate only the broth of chicken-noodle-soup that night. You're more than welcome to come over for spam eggs and rice though, just let me know. mmmmmmmm

This is the first breakfast I had at home over Christmas at McDonalds (Spam, eggs, Portuguese sausage and rice).
