Funk, I see you have been venturing into the Lounge a little bit recently. Beware this slippery slope lest you suffer the same fate as me!
The Dark Side has great power...

Yes, Funk!!! Beware, for you too shall become wormy and isolated!!!
I wonder how many M1s walked out their front door and went, "what's all this white stuff?" today
Shoot, they even closed the US Forest Service office today. If a bunch of burly foresters can't handle a little snow, how do they expect us fake doctors to?
How was the Jeopardy session in Micro today, M2s? I was planning on coming to school, but woke up this morning with an incredibly painful ache in my neck - kind of like a spasmodic torticollis, but without any involvement of the SCM. It seems like the whole upper border of my right trapezius is on fire every time I move my head, and I can't turn my head nor tilt it right more than about 15 degrees. It made shoveling the driveway this morning a real treat. 👎 This hasn't happened to me in a few years, but last time it took a few days for the pain to go away.
It wasn't really Jeopardy. It was more, you get a little thing and put which answer you think it is, when they had multiple choice questions. Then they showed the tally of what the class said. There were about 60 people there today. I didn't take a little thing because I didn't want to be interactive.
I'm starting to think these lecturers must get paid by the hour. We have so much of our time wasted this year with insignificant but "mandatory" sessions and path and micro lectures that are basically just rehashes of the same material spaced two weeks apart. Ridiculous.
At least we've been taught that our tuitions don't go to pay their salary.
I don't buy it. I could have sworn I saw Dr. N. cruising around the halls about a week after I made my last tuition payment in a brand new tweed sports coat.
I bet it had "Courtesy of DoctorFunk" embroidered on the back too, eh?
Now that you mention it, I should really make up some sort of logo for him to put on his sports coats and his car so that people know that I am sponsoring his career. I'm thinking something gaudy straight out of Nascar sponsorships...
It can involve a big eye.

Eh, I'm an advocate of put your foot to the floor and remember if you're FWD/RWD and which way your car will fishtail. Although I did help someone out, but he was giving me a ride. 😛I really was happy about the way people pitched in in the parking lot and helped one another get their cars out. I love our class.

Some of these little cars had a foot and a half of snow behind them and were basically ploughed in, though.
Some of these little cars had a foot and a half of snow behind them and were basically ploughed in, though. Anyway, those of us with shovels passed them around; snowbrushes were wielded; people with snow experience backed out the people who didn't quite have the touch, and we got OUT OF THERE! I just liked the general spirit of cooperation.
Yeah. Like how about 15 of my classmates walked by while my girlfriend and I tried to get my car out when it was stuck. How nice of all of them. I literally had to STOP one and ASK for help pushing.
I think you've perfectly summed up the difference between first and second year. Bravo!![]()
That's the most depressing thing I've read all month. Someone say it ain't so!
Let me expand on this idea a little, so you don't get the wrong idea. First year is a lot like the first book/movie in the Lord of the Rings trilogy: The Fellowship of the Ring. Everybody is nice and optimistic about things, they all feel like they have a purpose, and everyone is working together as a team to some degree to help each other accomplish that purpose.
However, the end of spring semester is alot like the end of Fellowship and the beginning of The Two Towers. The motley gang is disbanded by forces beyond their control (the summer) and everyone is left to either fend for themselves or survive off the land in splintered factions. Come next fall, folks stop going to lecture, and even when not in lecture there just isn't as much time away from studying as one would like. You may maintain friendships or even make new ones, but you won't have a ton of time for socializing and there just isn't that uniting force that there was in the beginning of M1 year to bind you all together. You end up feeling a lot more like a free agent than a member of a team striving for a shared goal. Doesn't necessarily mean that we try to gun each other down, but I (at least) find myself a lot more absorbed in what I need to do to get myself through this mess, rather than how others around me are doing (with a few exceptions 😉 ).
Then again, maybe it's just me, and I'm mentally preparing myself for next year when they really split us all up.

i'm confused...which one of us got shot with 4 arrows by a giant walking and drooling pig monster thing? and who's the gay elf?
i love how they can make any little annoyance in school sound like it builds "doctor character."
you're missing out. Go watch them. This is my dog's 2nd winter. So the wonder of the snow was gone, and she was merely pissed off that she has to poop in the snow again.
BTW, I've never seen Lord of the Rings or read the books. But the analogy sounded about right.
Andy, love the pictures.
I don't know if anyone can help me but does the path dept pay those lecturers by slide, or is there a competition about how many slides can you go through in 50 minutes ( or before someone turns off the light). help me understand! At least we've been taught that our tuitions don't go to pay their salary.

from my understanding they pay the lecturers per student that gets their questions wrong. so the more of us that get them wrong, the more money they get.
It's amazing they haven't fully started asking questions in other languages like Armenian (Hi DrOwen -- Inchpezes?). I know I see Latin occasionally (rubor, tumor, calor, dolor, et functio laesa).

Guten Abend! Zigaretten? Ich wollte ein Auto mieten.
Ich habe neunundsiebzig Dollar für Weihnachten-Trödel an diesem Wochenende ausgegeben, und kein Studieren soll gefunden werden.
