Last year they had to make the final more difficult because the averages were too high for the other exams. Well, this is according to only 1 of the test writers.

I've got the final grade sheet from physiology last year, so the averages for the exams were as follows (remember that respiratory and renal were block 3):
exam 1 average: 82
exam 2 average: 85
exam 3 average: 82
exam 4 average: 78.57 (nobody scored over a 93%)
Cut-off for an honors was an 89.5, class average was an 81.7
Our "supposed" average for first block was 79 and they said we were only one point lower than last year's. It seems we were 3 full points lower that last year's average.
Maybe Liard prefers the median, and the mean is what prints out on our grade sheets.
That is a possibility. What sucks about med school is the fact that you study so much only for you to end up with a depressing grade. The professors seem to be out of touch (unnecessary text deleted).
Can you all imagine if you'd studied this much in undergrad? haha. I don't even remember studying in undergrad. I'm not sure how I even got into medical school...oh yeah, the MCAT. nice! It is too bad there isn't some other huge standardized test that pretty much determines your career in medicine...
You should fix yerself a Jameson and coke.
I think you're going to be happy at noon eastern time tomorrow.
You would put Coke in good Irish whiskey? What's WRONG with you?
Has anyone seen that Irish whiskey (can't remember the brand) ad on 794 downtown? "Not the same old schlemiel schlimazel"... That doesn't really make any sense.
I don't drink caffeine. Really, I don't really drink soda. However, I will go to bed soon to make the time pass. Good thing I don't have to worry about that on Wednesday--being that I'm on call and all.
that shlemiel thing is a Lavern and Shirley reference. I think they worked at a brewery in Milwaukee on that show.
True. and I only knew that because of Wayne's World.
True. and I only knew that because of Wayne's World.
Wayne Campbell: So, do you come to Milwaukee often?
Alice Cooper: Well, I'm a regular visitor here, but Milwaukee has certainly had its share of visitors. The French missionaries and explorers began visiting here in the late 16th century.
Pete: Hey, isn't "Milwaukee" an Indian name?
Alice Cooper: Yes, Pete, it is. In fact , it's pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land."
Wayne Campbell: I was not aware of that.
Alice Cooper: I think one of the most interesting things about Milwaukee is that it's the only American city to elect three Socialist mayors.
Wayne Campbell: [to the camera] Does this guy know how to party or what?
All I need to know is what I learned from the movies. The other highly informative movie is Mel Brooks' History of the World pt. 1.
I realize that it's from Laverne and Shirley. Still doesn't make any sense. It didn't make any sense on the show, either. Sad... Yiddish is fun to swear in.
Five hours. Seventy-seven hours.
so did you match? and what are some Yiddish obscenities?I realize that it's from Laverne and Shirley. Still doesn't make any sense. It didn't make any sense on the show, either. Sad... Yiddish is fun to swear in.

Paget's Disease (periodic, bone) and Paget Disease (breast, vulva) are not related right?
Ugh, I'm nice and sick. Fever, non-productive cough, and serious malaise. I just woke up from a nap (I had my usual sick dreams - something strange and pointless, over and over and over again), and now I'm going to try to stay up long enough for the tylenol to cut down on my fever so my pillow isn't burning up and I'll fall asleep fast.
I still have a BAD attitude about the practice USMLE tomorrow. I keep coming up with bad ideas for disrupting the administration, which would of course be unprofessional and I won't really do.
By the practice USMLE, do you mean the CER final? Because that's the only thing we were required to do. The other thing cost $45 and was by signing up.
You want to really keep the admin off-guard? Be the first class in MCW history to take that thing without whining about it the entire time. 😉
Then it must be our fault that you have to take it... we were too enthusiastic. 🙂
On a similar tangent, anyone want to take step 3 for me?
Oh, please. Then you'd be launching an investigation to find out what kind of pod people took over our bodies. I have no idea why my attitude is so bad about it and I just don't care right now. But go ahead and try to fix me by lecturing me if it cheers you up.
😉 That smiley generally means someone is kidding around. I remember my attitude being just as lousy as yours heading into our mock board session. It's all ridiculous, and you'll be amazed at how little your attitude changes 3rd year in rotations that are not all that relevant to the field you want to go into.
Ohhh! You want me to notice the smileys! Next you'll want me to read all the words and everything. The demands just never stop around here.
I'm extra NOT saying what I want to right now.
