All,
I am foreign medical graduate and ECFMG certified with all USMLE steps cleared including step 3. I have been applying for residency for last couple of years with no luck. One of my senior class fellow who is currently doing residency has suggested me to apply for the admission to a DO school.

Below are some of the details about my career so far:
- ECFMG certified
- 2+ years of observerships at University Hospitals in US
- 3 months volunteer work at a clinic associated with a very well known teaching hospital
- 1 1/2 years of clinical research experience with 1 US publication as 2nd author
- 1 year of lab research experience at a very well respected university in US

At this moment I don't know about my undergrad GPA as I have to get my degree evaluated. I am planning to write MCAT in next 8 - 10 months.

What do you guys suggest in terms of what is missing from my resume?
What MCAT score would make my application appealing to the DO schools with my current qualification?

I will appreciate sincere feedback .........

Contact New York Institute of Technology.

They have a program for foreign physicians where they can redo medical school in 3 years so they can get residency here.

Its a school in Long Island New York in a suburb of NYC.

They have alot of spots for this program.

@Goro might know of some other programs.

LECOM has a program for PAs to become DOs in three years but I'm not sure if this applies to foreign MDs

This is actually a really cool loophole. You can't get two MDs (so you can't go to an MD school but you can be an MD and DO like AT still was)

This is the only one I know of.

On your PS...just mentioning that you are following in the footsteps of your idol...AT Still.

Are you all saying that I can't apply to a DO school?
I am aware of the program at NYIT for foreign medical grads but I never came across any resource which says that after being ECFMG certified I can't apply to DO schools. Can someone post a link to such resource?

@xBODOMx
You are correct. I am ECFMG certified which means I am an MD. What do you mean that ECFMG means nothing to US medical schools? Are you saying I can still apply to DO schools?
