Question about search function:

So when I search like my MCAT and GPA, my name shows up and it has my application cycle listed as "6/2/2009"

Then when I search for instance "Received Interview from Vanderbilt and applied for matriculation in 2010" not only do I not show up (presumably because my app. cycle isn't 2010), but people who don't have interviews show up.

Edit: when the search results come back it just says "Applied to Vanderbilt University and applied in 2010." Nothing about interviews mentioned, though when using waitlist is has "Applied to Vanderbilt University and applied and waitlisted in 2010."

My definition was "submitted" == clicked off on AMCAS that you applied there.
Why not have both?

So far, we have dates for:
- submitting your primary for the school
- getting marked complete
- getting an interview invite
- attending the interview
- being waitlisted
- getting accepted
- being rejected

All you're missing is dates for receiving a secondary and submitting the secondary. You even have room for two more dates in the third column of school tabs. Also, if "submitted" is for AMCAS, might as well make the date that defines our cycle when we were verified, as that date is also missing.

Is anyone else still having trouble with finding their page? Mine keeps saying "page not found, 404 error"-what the heck?

also, is there a way to search for a category of applicants with an interview at "any school"?

I think I fixed it - earlier before I went out for entertainment purposes. If you search with interview selected, without selecting a school, it just finds all interviews for you. I count 7000 results with 'received an interview'.

Am I the only one who doesn't like this new version of MDApps? It sucks, I miss the old one.

Eh, I doubt anybody likes it better than the old one. It's a mistake many website designers make--they make it flashier than necessary but not very practical. So the end result is more of a "look what I can do" type of website rather than something that's more useful.

It's the same thing with two of the most commonly used application websites(the SLU, Tufts, etc. variety vs. the Ohio State, Miami, etc. variety). The Tufts one looks great, but if you ever tried to paste an essay on it, well good luck. I put something that has 995 characters on it(through notepad, not MS Word) and it tells me I have 1008. I delete 8 characters and it tells me I have 975. I add one more word and it tells me I have 1000. The OSU/Miami ones, on the other hand, look bland, but they're completely bug-free and easy to use.

does anyone else have to sign in twice? after i enter my information, and click enter, the page just reloads and i have to do it again. i have never logged in on a first attempt.

and the password never saves.

It now remembers your password as well.

As for the reloads, I'm not sure what to say. I think my recommendations would be to delete all your cookies from mdapplicants; I think when the server switched IP addresses, it might have gotten mutilated.

Shrug, I like it. I think the thing that bothers most people is not having everything listed on the frontpage in the same place like it used to be. Maybe there can be an option to have a "classic" format where the tabs are disabled and everything is displayed on the same page.

Blog and Discussion will always be a separate tab, but I can go back to listing the Demographics and Application together:
http://mdapplicants.com/profile2.php?id=1

is a quick mock-up for feedback - the subsubnav doesn't function with the two tab content combined, but that's the appearance I think you all are clamoring for.
Looks perfect.

I really like how you combined Demographics and Application. Thanks!

...but please, please use the Blog for updates, if possible, to prevent that first tab from being a billion pages long from Application Experience....
Question - ideally, what would people use the blog for, as opposed to "Summary of Application Experience"?

Due to popular demand, demographics and applications have been combined to one tab. 😉

It looks great! I like the merger.

Edit: And since gratitude is probably in short supply now since Internet communities are notorious for opposing any sort of change, good or bad: Thanks for all the updating! The site is beautiful, page loading has gotten way better, and I think this MDapps version will enable it to carry on it's functionality for a good time to come!

I'm having the same problem, and I erased all my cookies and my cache on this computer. Still happening.

i have to login twice in order to truly login (meaning, I have to type my username/pw, hit enter, retype my usernam/pw, and then submit again). is this happening to anyone? not a big deal... just annoying

The little daily updates? Putting the running play-by-play into that summary of application experience makes that page so...long....

The problem with that is that people usually only take a quick look at the profile, many don't bother to click on another tab, especially when it takes forever to load. Could you make it so that the applications and the experience sections are side-by-side instead of serially arranged from top to bottom like it is now?

Is it really loading slowly? It's instantaneous over here...

And no, applications and experience can't be placed next to each other.

I am thoroughly pleased with all of the improvements made over the past week. Thanks for the hard work. I think that once people get past the 'change' they'll really appreciate the new improvements.

I had the same double login bug on Windows 7/Firefox 3.5.2. Also, it's ridiculously slow (like >1 minute to load a page).

Registration e-mail bug should be fixed now.

Not sure how I'm going to track down this double-login bug, but I wouldn't expect rapid resolution; does it at least save your username and password now?

I don't know what to tell you about ridiculously slow...I've tried it on a couple networks and computers - I'll keep trying to find a way to diagnose it.

speed is definitely better than before!

as for the login thing - it's happened to me on a mac at home (in firefox and in safari) after deleting all cookies, and at work on a pc that doesn't even save cookies when i log on - doesn't seem like a cookie issue.

click the login on the top right of the page, takes me
http://www.mdapplicants.com/login.php

then type in my info and click "login", it takes me to
http://mdapplicants.com/login.php?r=myprofile.php

then i log in again, and it takes me to my actual profile. .. if that helps at all

Don't like it. The hospital I work at now considers it like facebook or other social networking sites so I can't look at it.

Awesome.

I'm not sure where that comes from - you can still get to SDN Forums, eh? - but there was one webmaster profiling thing on Google where I checked it off as a social network, and I've since deleted that. If you have some idea which firm's list is being used to block MDA, I can e-mail them directly to try and get it re-categorized as an educational resource. It's a social network in the loosest possible sense....

this has been asked about several times in this thread already. no one knows how to fix it yet.

And, now it shows the # of blog entries and discussion topics on the View Profile so you don't have to click into them, only to be disappointed.

Thank you for this! It makes it much easier now....btw I see xaelia your profile number is 00001 because you are the creator. But do you have 00000? Is it available for buying? I am dying to mention in my essays that I am the Zeroth MDApplicant.

The login issue seems rather widespread; it's at the top of my list to investigate.

After that, I'm going to see if I can figure out why certain folks have >1 minute connection times. I think there's a header that references a nonexistent file that is causing a connection timeout, but I haven't figured out how to alter it yet.

Oh, and yeah, at some point I should get back to doing some kind of residency-related studying and research. But this is more fun. 😉

Maybe this'll help. On my laptop(Vista 64/Firefox), I always have to log in twice, which isn't that much trouble because it does save my login information. But on my school's Mac(OS something, looks new/Firefox), I only have to log in once.

Hi Xaelia,

For the schools in which I was placed on hold for re-review, I check off the boxes for primary submitted, secondary complete, and waitlisted. When I do this, the schools disappear completely from display. The only way that they display is if I check interview invite and interview attended. Can this be reconciled?

Thanks,

Cher

Why would you check waitlisted if you didn't interview at all?
