Anyone who puts some work into their appearance and physique can be relatively attractive.
I don't think so. Probably more so the case for girls than guys (I'd say the stereotype that girls are pickier is generally true), but even then, some girls unfortunately just do not have good body/face shapes, even if they are skinny, have makeup, etc. I think

Oh really? In just this thread, most of the men have in someway admitted to using the rating system. And its not sexist to find one girl more attractive than another. Men use numbers for simplicity and convenience so that when they mention it to their guy friends, the relative attractiveness is already understood and it saves us time from having to use the whole "she is attractive because blah blah blah" speech for every single girl we talk about.

👍

Okay so you find some guys hotter than others right? Its the same with men; we just rate them on how attractive we find them so other guys we talk to know our preferences.

Yea because girls never rank which guy they would hook up with in descending order right? 🙄

 👍👍

Because men appreciate attractiveness? No one said that a woman's worth is ONLY in her looks. But you would be very naive if you think its not an important factor.

Why does it feel like you were never rated highly on that 1-10 scale?
Did people overlook your interests, hobbies, and personality because your number wasnt high enough for them?

Stop with the strawman, no one on here said it's only offensive when men do this to women Bunk and I both said it's offensive to refer to a human being solely by a number. That 8 you are taking about is a person, with a name show a little respect eh.

Also your ad hom is unnecessary keep it civil shall we? We are all adults here

And why exactly is it offensive? It's an objective tool. Schools use a number to rank your competitiveness as an applicant. Medical schools use class rank to denote your standing/academic performance. And countless businesses do as well.

Just because I rated a girl an 8 means that I don't respect her? How did you come to that conclusion? If anything, rating that high shows appreciation for the woman's beauty, not offense.

You are not a med school adcom so just stop. And yeah reducing a person to a number based off of beauty standards is objectifying and not in the least bit respectful regardless of if you are calling her a dime or a nickle.

Saying that Bunk is ugly therefore of course she would have issues with a numerical system. It is an attempt to devalue her arguement by saying it comes from a place of insecurity rather than intellect and its an unnecessary jab.

Agree to disagree already.

The med school anecdote was an example to show you that the real world does use numerical valuation.

So you think its unfair to rank someone who works harder to look better higher than someone who doesnt?

While it may not be correct, it may be one possible reason which is why I asked it as a question, not made a declaration.

But I will go ahead and take Womb Raider's advice and just close it out here.

Men rating women will not be going anywhere for a very long time and its pointless to argue its validity to women who are offended by it.
