Hi my name is Evan and I am new here. I have searched the PharmD forum and haven't found anything on Mercer's pharmacy school (in Atlanta). I have an interveiw with them this coming up Friday (Sept. 24), and was wondering if any goes there or knows anyone who does/did. If so, could you tell me about it? Thanks so much.

Hey,

I went to Mercer U my first two years of undergrad before I transfered to UGA. From what I have been told and researched, Mercer is actually the hardest pharmacy school to get into in the state of GA. This suprises me because the University of Ga is almost 15,000 dollars cheaper. I guess this is because Mercer is in Atlanta. I think they received almost 8-10 applicants per seat, where UGA has around 5-6 per seat. I have a friend who was wait-listed at Mercer.Thats about all I know personally about Mercer's pharmacy school I wish you luck. I hope your interview goes good.

Mercer is one of the hardest because many people from out of state apply. I would say it is one of the hardest in the nation to get into at the current time. In general, Mercer is a wonderful school and I think you will find that you will enjoy your interview. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. I applied to Samford, Auburn, and Mercer. Mercer is the only one I don't know much about. From what I have learned it seems like a great school. By the way, if anyone reads this and goes to Samford or Auburn, let me know. I would like to talk with you, also.

I agree, Mercer is a wonderful school. Atlanta is also a great town, except for the traffic. Good luck.

the main problem with Mercer is how expensive it is.

i have several friends in the EAP program at mercer. For those that arent familar, it is two years of undergrad/pre-pharm at mercer and you are pretty much in if you maintain a 3.0 gpa. It is a really sweet deal. PCATS are not really of importance for students in the EAP. My cousin is also in the EAP program and already had her interview without the pcats.

i went to Mercer University undergrad. for three years and then decided to go to Pharm. school and I ended up at UT-Memphis, but Mercer is an overall good school. A lot of people in my class chose UT over Mercer because they thought UT is a better school, which I also think. You won't go wrong with any of the pharm. schools you are applying to. All of the people are really nice, and I heard(from my friends there) that the first year of pharm. school there isn't bad at all. The curriculum is different than most(instead of say pharmacology, they have neuromuscular disorders I and II, or something like that). Good luck on your interview. My sister went to it last year and she said it wasn't hard.

Hi Evan,

I was invited for Mercer interview on Sep 17, but because of the hurrican Ivan, they closed the school and I have to cancel all flights and the tickets!! 🙁

Anyway, I plan to go for the interview on Sep 24 😳 When is your interview, is it in the morning or in the afternoon?
I go for an afternoon.

Hey angelil_yu.

My interview was also for Sept. 17, but was canceled. Mine will be Sept. 24 at 1:00 PM.

Does anyone know if Mercer's pharmacy school has a dress code? I know many of the schools require you dress like you are going to work while in class. Just curious.

does mercer require the pcat for applicants for fall 2005? and is this program a four year program without having to do the prepharmacy two years?

http://www.mercer.edu/pharmacy

They have a wealth of information on their site. The PCAT is required, and the program is 4 years beyond the 2 years of prepharmacy.

Mercer is on a block schedule. You only have 1-2 classes at a time but they only last a few weeks each. So the curriculum is condensed but you don't have to worry about studying for 4 test in one week. You get to focus on one thing at a time. They will tell you all about this when you interview. It is a really great concept, and they would have been my first choice, if it wasn't in Atlanta, and it wasn't so expensive.

Malissa, thanks for the info. I just sent you a private message.
