On my first encounter for Step 2 CS, I did not scroll down all the way and (in my anxious state) forgot that there was a diagnostic workup section. Therefore the section was left ENTIRELY BLANK. I am totally freaking out. Has anyone done this before and still passed? It happened to another person in my group... I can't be the only one, right? Right??

You probably are not the first person, and you probably won't be the last. For all you know, that could have been an experimental patient. It's done, you can't change it, and unfortunately, you'll have to wait until October to find out. Relax, be glad you're done, and I'm sure you'll be fine. I'm sending you some hugs

Just curious: is there a reason why you list your status as a vet student?

Thanks! I don't think that it was an experimental patient because it was the only "child" case. It was also the only unusual case in the batch (i.e. no other telephone patients or patients who did not require a physical exam). I've heard that usually they include at least one of these to grade.

As for the "vet student," I was making this account quickly since it is a throw away and I randomly selected that box. I forgot that it actually shows up. I am, indeed, actually a fourth year med student.

you're not allowed to cancel your scores after you leave?

people run out of time. no biggie unless you did it on every single one.

Do people actually fail Step 2 CS? That come form a decent US school?

When Step 2 CS started the majority of failures came from students of certain "big name" schools that were asleep at the wheel when it came to clinical skills training. Students from mid and low tier schools, which are more invested in churning out practicing physicians, sailed right through.

I am from a mid-tier myself, but I find it unlikely that any med school is not highly invested in churning out practicing physicians.

they're more interested in training future department chairs and people like that. learning how to diagnose and treat is important but bedside manner isn't as important for them as pumping out papers

I meant practicing as opposed to academic (as yehhhboii alluded to). But yes, it does take a certain amount of training to teach students how to play the OSCE game, and not every school was doing it.
