North Carolina resident here! I was accepted to Methodist CFVH SOM and CUSOM. I am currently interested in a variety of specialities, some of which are primary care. I would like to keep my options open and explore every specialty. I want strong rotations and would prefer not to move around too much while I'm in school. I also want to make sure I have the opportunity to find solid research opportunities.
Methodist
Pros:
- MD program
- associated with hospital system (Cape Fear Valley Health)
- more urbanized area (I'm used to living in cities)
- 40k tuition remission
Cons:
- new program, no match data
Campbell
Pros:
- very established DO program
- 99-100% match rate
Cons:
- need both COMLEX and USMLE to be more competitive
- possible stigma against DO
- OMM classes
- rural area
- regional clinical sites
Please let me know if I've made any mistakes with this information! I'm still doing my research on both schools, and would love some advice on what to do. If you're currently in a similar situation, what are you planning to do?
