Postdoctoral Research Fellowship or Clinical Research Fellowship available in the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Department of Otolaryngology (Miami, FL).

The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Department of Otolaryngology has a fully funded position in clinical research available, starting July 1, 2016. The fellowship position is funded through a combination of National Football League (NFL), General Electric (GE), Under Armour and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) grants.

The position is ideally suited to accommodate US accredited allopathic medical school graduates seeking a year of research prior to beginning Otolaryngology or Neurological Surgery residency and are seeking to improve their existing research experience in preparation for the Match. Medical students seeking a research year between the 3rd and 4th years of medical school will also be considered.

The research fellowship offers a unique experience to become involved in several phase III clinical trials investigating vestibular disorders following mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) in both University of Miami athletes and professional athletes using a 3D portable, goggle testing platform. The successful fellow will be expected to carry out multiple projects throughout the year. There will be formal and informal training in IRB writing, data collection, manuscript drafting, oral/poster presentation, media interviews and residency interviews. We are seeking applicants with excellent organizational and writing skills.

Principal Investigator: Michael E. Hoffer, MD
