I just got an OOS acceptance via email about 45 minutes ago.

I just got an OOS acceptance via email about 45 minutes ago.

I checked my email after you posted...I got accepted too! I had to run out to my car (I'm at work right now) and cry for a good five minutes and make the rounds of calls...I'm excited and I hope everyone who is waiting can hear the same good news! 🙂:xf::luck:

I am in too!!! I can't believe it!!! I am way too excited!!! Congrats everyone! I can't believe we are going to be vets!!! 👍 😀 👍

Has anyone started a facebook group for our class????

Has anyone else not heard anything?

Also does anyone know if today was the last day or if there will be one more round (I know at one point someone had said the end of February which is still almost 2 weeks..)

I didn't get any email today and so I'm super anxious and worried and I just keep feeling more and more hopeless every time I see more people getting accepted and I'm not on the list...:scared:🙁

I haven't gotten anything either. 🙁

I am in the same boat. No email or letter yet. I talked to MSU CVM today and they said that emails and letters would continue to go out until the end of the month. However, I figure if I haven't been given good news yet, I probably won't get any (especially given the number of people accepted today).

There is a facebook group. I posted the link on the second page of this thread.

I feel pretty much the same way (that it can't really be good news after this..), but I've felt like this pretty much the whole time and definitely since the ones that went out in January..it just gets worse and worse every time a round goes out that mine's not in...

I feel a tiny bit better that they said they will continue sending more out until the end of the month though. Hopefully some of those will be acceptances for us...this is so stressful...

I'm new to this, but I got my Michigan State acceptance today.

Does anyone have any thoughts/info on the area/school/program (equine in particular)?

Thanks!

yay equine! congrats to everyone that got accepted today!!!!

Awesome! Thanks! I do not know if you run the group, but if you do I sent a request to join ... my name is Nicole Nelson!! Looking forward to getting to know you and our fellow classmates!

I don't run the group, Rachel does. She is pretty good about adding people quickly. My name is Michele. Do you know what welcome day you will be attending?

Looking at either going the 16th or the 30th ... how about you?

I got my email from them while I was at work today!!!! Honestly I was more shocked/surprised than anything when I saw this because I was expecting a waitlist at best at this point... but :soexcited: so for those of you still waiting hang in there!! Don't give up hope!!

Hey Horsey, congrats! I went to MSU, but graduated some time ago (I'm a non-trad)...so I can tell you a bit about the area and MSU in general, just PM me.

I have friends who are practicing vets now, so I know a bit about the program, but it's probably changed a bit since they graduated over 10 years ago.

They do have a nice equine program (with indoor arena), as well as a treadmill (no underwater, just regular treadmill). I know the caseload is pretty large.

Can anyone tell me if you gain residency your 2nd year as an OOS??

they said at the welcome day last week that you can not gain residency at any point over the 4 years. you have to gain residency before you apply. she did say something about a scholarship or something they try and do to reduce the cost for non-residents but i didnt really pay attention when she went over it cause im in state. maybe someone else on here can speak more on that..?

the only way to gain residency is to marry a resident. BUT, if you're a non-resident and you stay in michigan for at least one year right after graduation to work, you can get the OOS tuition difference for the last year of school back.

I know...I was shaking and sweating...I think I was in shock on Thursday...better now.

does anyone know when class starts? sometime in august?

So when does everyone think they will send out letters/emails next? Every other friday still? I thought maybe they would send out letters the same time as emails, but I haven't received anything. My best hope at this point is for the waiting list, otherwise I might apply to one of the caribbean schools or try applying to state next year and just work in lansing to get experience. Does anyone else have a caribbean school as a back up? 😕

No clue. You can call or email the admissions department and I'm sure they will let you know. Have you tried applying to the other OOS schools? MSU in general is difficult to gain admission to IS or OOS because of the SIS score process.

So is this true...is down to just waitlisters that have not heard anything? They kind of deny that when you ask them....has someone else heard differently?

Again, instead of posting and spreading rumors to initiate freak outs, I would call or email to verify this statement.

Ok. Just called MSU and they're not done with acceptances yet and everyone should hear by the end of the month.

I've been a lurker here for the past few months and finally got around to making an account =) I just wanted to pop in and say that I'm IS and still waiting to hear from MSU too. It's been extremely stressful to say the least haha. I've been accepted to St. Matthew's on Grand Cayman for the fall and am currently in the process of applying to SGU for the fall as well. A friend of mine currently goes to St. Matthew's and said it was the best decision she's ever made, so that basically made me want to apply. She said the class sizes are small and the professors all know her by name and are extremely willing to provide extra help if you need it (same things I've heard about SGU) So, those are my back-ups if I don't get into MSU!

Has anyone here taken Cell Biology online through UC Berkeley extensions? Just investigating it as an option and would like to know what people think of the class who have taken it.

I was curious about residency too. I am getting married in a couple months, and my soon to be husband will be working in Michigan (assuming that's our final choice), so would that qualify me for residency? Should I email the school to ask?

I thought that marriage to a resident=IS tuition. You can call the office of finaid to find out. There is a medical student branch that includes vet med. http://finaid.msu.edu/med/default.asp

Does anyone have any idea of when the last rounds of notifications will be sent out? I was kinda hoping it would be today since the last few seemed to go out on Thursdays and this was the last one of the month. I guess either way it will be soon. I got my fingers crossed we hear good news soon! :xf::luck:

I think all they're telling us is that notifications will be sent sometime before the end of the month, and that there are still some acceptances in that batch. Keep your fingers croseed! And you're not alone.

Anybody hear anything?? I still haven't and there is only one day left in this month! I'm getting super nervous...I just want to get in SOO badly! :scared:😕:xf::luck:

I still haven't heard anything either. My husband and I are really anxious to hear from Michigan State, since it's my in state. I've been lucky enough to be accepted at Ohio State and Mississippi State, but would probably for sure go for the in state tuition at Michigan. We just want to know where we'll be so we can hurry up and move out of my parents basement....🙂 Here's hoping that we hear something tomorrow!

Ooh Congrats on getting in to Ohio and Mississippi State! Michigan State is my in state too so I completely agree in-state tuition would definitely be better than OOS. I haven't gotten in anywhere else (just Auburn and Missouri waitlist) so I have a lot riding on getting in here this year (it's also my last one to hear from this cycle) and I'm super nervous! I hope tomorrow is our lucky day! :luck::xf:

I haven't heard anything either. I've been obsessively refreshing my email all day. Maybe tomorrow will be the day!

MSU is also my IS and is my last option for US schools. I'm on the interview wait list at VMRCVM but seeing as interviews are this weekend it's not looking like I'll be making it off of it. I didn't get into the other 2 schools I applied to, so MSU is my last hope haha. Otherwise I'll be heading to the Caribbean.

Still haven't heard anything either. I'm OOS but this is the last school I have to hear from and keeping fingers crossed because its my last hope of getting in this cycle. When I talked to the lady at admissions about a week and a half ago she said the end of the month, so I guess she wasn't lying about the "end of the month". Hopefully tomorrow brings good news! :xf:

Alright. So I called the admissions office today and this is what the woman said. We have until April 15th to hear something. I said sooo for people who are waitlisted or people still waiting to hear anything? And she said that they have a pile of applicants they still need to go through. They could get through them this week, they could get through them next week. But the latest you will hear from MSU will be April 15th. Anyone else a little mystified by this?!?! I'm half wondering if this is true (even though I heard it first hand), because that is just way too close to the deadline for comfort. Soo yep. There you go.

What the....? I don't even know what to say to that....except maybe :bang:

Maybe they mean that wait listers should hear by then too about whether or not they made it off the list? I would bet that those last acceptances will come out before then...they have to... 🙁 MSU is brutal....why do they do it like this?

That makes no sense. Applicants have to accept invitations at schools by April 15th. Sounds like the woman you talked to today woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

I agree!!! I'm pretty sure I had a long awkward pause followed by, are you being serious? I encourage someone else to call and maybe they will get more encouraging news. I'm still pulling for "the end of the month". Uughh so frustrating.

But she did say though that it could be in a week or it could be in two weeks soo who knows. Maybe she just felt like being really vague and messing with my head!

It would be nice if the process allowed for students who are admitted to actually visit the schools they receive an acceptance letter from so they can make an informed decision. The closer to April 15th decision letters are mailed the more difficult it becomes to make that decision. What school are you leaning towards Katie8?

I just got my wait list letter, so I think they've made their decisions already.
