Michigan State CVM c/o 2016 Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I just withdrew my application from Michigan State, Tufts, Iowa State, and Auburn...hopefully this will open up another spot for you guys! Good luck!!! :luck::xf:

For anyone curious or as equally anxious as I am, I called the admissions office today and they said they probably won't be ready to send out admissions/rejection offers for another couple weeks. I also clarified the email/mail thing for offers: they will email offers first with a letter to follow. Hopefully they'll surprise us and send things sooner?!

I hope so! Thanks Katie8 for the update! Any news helps make the wait a little more easy to handle. 👍

I guess they started sending them out because a girl in my class just posted on facebook she got accepted 🙄

Do you know if they recieved an e-mail prior to their letter arriving?

Pigguy, I got an email today and believe they're sending more information in the mail soon. Good luck everyone, so excited right now!! 🙂

I got my acceptance email as well!! Very excited for everyone!! It will be a great year.

Congrats everyone that received acceptances yesterday!! Who all is for sure going to msu?

I wondered if anyone has a tread started for those accepted so we can all get to know each other. I signed up for welcome day on February 17. Has anyone else signed up?

In the acceptance email there is a link to click on. Once there on the webpage, halfway down on the right side has a tab "Welcome Day Schedule" click on that.

I just registered for the March 2 Welcome Day.
Congrats to everyone getting accepted!

Congratulations everyone on their acceptances! Does anyone know if there will be another wave of acceptances or if that was it?

I am wondering the same thing!

Me too...I had my Iowa interview this weekend and a fellow MSU student said she hadn't heard either way as well...I wonder, do they email rejections as well? Or as letters? Their admissions website says they 'send notices' from November-February. Guess that's not very specific.

OK...just in contact with MSU-CVM...yes, some acceptances were sent out last Friday and they will "trickle out" every other Friday...

Just for clarification does this mean every other friday as in 14 days apart or does this mean every single friday until they're done?

I also sorry in advance if this doesn't post correctly, I've been lurking for a long time and this is my first post.
As a MI resident who has heard nothing so far so I'm grabbing for any little bit of info I can get, hoping I still have a shot! :xf:

I assumed that this meant every 14 days until the end of February.

Thank you so much for the information. It is greatly appreciated!! Good luck to everyone still awaiting a response!! 🙂

Hi everyone! I was just wondering if anyone has receive a rejection letter recently (the last posted rejection was on 12/27 according to the rejection page). I haven't heard anything from MSU yet. Anyone else still waiting?

I'm still waiting 🙂 I got waitlisted last year, and I got that letter around the third to fourth week in February.

Still waiting too:xf:

Hopefully we will all be either accepted or wait listed! I know a lot of people have already received rejection letters. :xf:

Received an interesting email inviting me to the Michigan State University Office of Diversity Enrichment Summer Program.

Interesting, but still no word about my status via email. Need to check my snail mail.

I also got an interesting email today about the summer enrichment program. I was wondering if anyone who haven't heard from MSU got the email. The program they were suggesting was for ESP III which meant for only people who got acceptances or waitlisted......

I was acepted in December but I didn't get the enrichment email you did..hmmm?

I got the same email about the summer enrichment program yesterday but didn't get an email about being accepted or waitlisted. I was really confused since I haven't been accepted or waitlisted but am still in limbo. Maybe they sent that email early and we'll have acceptances later today! Hopefully :xf:

I think the enrichment program has specific requirements.
From the CVM website:
Eligibility Requirements

All program participants must be:

  • committed to participating in all assigned program components
  • an educationally, economically, and/or culturally disadvantaged student
  • holding an accumulated college grade point average of 2.7 or better
  • a citizen of the U.S. or permanent resident of the National of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Island or Commonwealth of the Northern Marianna Islands, or a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, or Guam.

So don't freak out if you don't get an email about the program, because it's not a program for all applicants or pre-vet students. I don't think it has much to do with admissions, actually. But, you can always call or email Pat if you want direct answers.

I never got an email about this program and I was still accepted OOS.

<New here> Just wondering if anyone has received acceptance emails today. I haven't yet and I have a feeling I will be watching my email all day. It's so hard to wait!

I haven't gotten anything yet today either but I am definitely going to be staring at my email all day as well!

I got an acceptance email OOS yesterday but will not be attending due to cost. I hope I help out one of you guys on the waitlist!

Havn't heard anything yet either... so tired of the waiting game!!!!

Haven't had any emails so far...I cannot even guess whether this is a good thing or a bad thing. I guess this means another two weeks of waiting, but that would put us at mid-February, so you'd think we'd hear of more acceptances/rejections lately (unless they're all going to non-SDNers!)
:xf::luck:

I emailed MSU and they said that they "plan on having their decisions made by the end of the month."

:bang:

does anyone know how much it costs for a parking pass in lot 92?

Something like $500-$700
I paid ~$400 two years ago for the entire school year. In third and fourth years, you can park in Wharton Center (across the street from the school/hospital) and those prices are comparable. I paid ~$420 for this year.

You can park in Lot 89 and take the bus over. Some of my classmates did that. I carpooled my first semester and we split the cost of the permit. A lot of people ride bikes all year - I believe a bike permit is free. You can also buy a student bus pass - the school is about a 10 minute walk from one of the main bus stops on campus.

You would think that as professional students, we would get a break on parking but no. 😡

HAH. Not at MSU.
Bike permits are free, you just need to register with campus police. Lot 89 is the commuter lot and you probably want to take a bus to get to main campus to walk or connect onto another bus to get to the vet school. A bus pass is $50/semester and some apartment complexes will pay for your pass.

Thanks for all the info you guys, I actually have free parking right across hagadorn but I am sooo lazy when it comes to getting to and from class so I was just wondering how much it would actually cost for that pass, my laziness is definitely not worth that much.. and I kinda wanted to try and start some "conversation" to get this thread going cause I'm super excited about msu!

Did you sign up for a welcome day? I signed up for March 16th.

I haven't signed up for a welcome day yet because they're all on a Friday and I have classes I would have to miss.. so I'm trying to figure out which Friday would be the best to miss. I'm actually in East Lansing this entire week so I was hoping they had one this Friday but they either don't or its full already 🙁 I toured the school already so I don't really care about that part of it but I wanna start meeting some classmates and see what they have to say about financial aid etc.

so theyre gonna let me squeak into the welcome day session this friday!! is anyone else on here signed up for this friday?

:bang:

So that means 19, and not 18, more days of waiting, damned Leap Year!!

If they are indeed sending stuff out via email (or at least acceptances that way), I haven't seen anything yet (and I'm IS).

A little birdie told me decisions will be made on the 16th!! I know the wait is hard but stay strong and try not to lose your mind until then..

Thanks! I'm hanging in there til the end, whatever (or whenever) that may be 🙂

So Does that mean they are mailing out decisions on the16th (Today!!!) or that they are meeting in a committee today to figure it all out?
