Is anyone else here getting there BA in micro? Auburn added 5 new courses to there pre-req list and two of those were micro and immunology. I also decided to minor in chemistry since Auburn now requires one semester of biochemistry might as well take biochem 2 and make it a minor

These are not recent additions, despite the website saying they've "...added 5 new courses....." - they were up there last year, but I don't know about years before then.

If you're not taking your undergrad work at Auburn, you should also check within the AU HSOP site for their equivalencies on coursework taken at other institutions. For example- AU might require Biochem 1 and 2 if you're taking it somewere other than AU, AUM, or someplace like UGa. http://pharmacy.auburn.edu/prospective_students/professional_degree/four_year_equivalents.htm

Also- just as a hint- if you finish a bachelor's degree, you're not subject to the same social science/english/humanities requirements. Check out AU's page on PharmCas: http://www.pharmcas.org/collegesschools/schoolAuburnpage.htm
Students with a prior baccalaureate degree are exempt from the English composition, literature, history, fine arts, and social science requirements, but must complete all other requirements.

Good luck!!!!

Got my bachelors in microbiology. It knocks out every prereq for the majority of pharmacy schools out there... so I ended up applying to 9+ schools. 😉 And it definitely makes your first year easier. You'll be ahead of the class when it comes to immunology, microbiology and if you take the right electives... you'll have a good background in hematology, neurobiology and anatomy.

Staph aureus, why is your pneumonia so potent?

Oh staph aureus, why?

lmao

Here's the poem by micro prof decided to share with the class about Staph:

Behold Staphylococcus aureus,
A gold-colored Gram positive coccus,
Staph lives on our skin
And sometimes gets in
Making toxins that disagree with us.
