I submitted last Weds to both Midwesterns. Heard from Chicago on Thursday and Arizona on Friday. When i signed up Chicago only had one date left (Nov 17) and Arizona had a bunch. It's possible that the date has filled up by now, but who knows.

Ok, So I submitted my supplemental for both Midwesterns (Chicago and Glendale) at the same time. But, I got the interview invitation for Glendale pretty quickly, and Chicago haven't made any contact with me yet. Anyone here is in the same situation ?

they didn't use the pharmCAS supplemental section. They do everything through the online.midwestern.edu portal

I submitted my app this weekend and haven't heard anything yet (aside from the "thanks your app is complete" email).

From what I've seen in the other Midwestern thread, it looked like people got their interview invites pretty quickly since they do rolling admissions. I think the longer you wait to submit though, the longer it'll take to hear from them as they are going to have to go through more and more applications before they get to yours.

I made an excellent choice coming to this school. I'm loving my experience thus far. The work load is extremely manageable and the faculty really want you to succeed. So far all the faculty have come off as very approachable and they are very easy going. About 14 percent of the class go into residency, 56 percent community and the rest are in other fields of pharmacy.

As far as the interview goes, I would try doing a mock interview with a friend based on the questions you found on the feed back section. A lot of them are very close to what you will expect during your interviews, so definitely utilize the interview feedback section. Good luck to you!

They work on rolling admissions, so yes applying early will help your chances.

Microbiology is not required. Refer to PharmCAS for required courses.

The interview is closed file. The interviewers have a series of questions they will ask the interviewers. During my interview they let us volunteer to answer. If you answer first you lower the chances that someone else has the same answer as you. This happened to someone and they were stumped because they had practiced questions and if someone answers the same as you it looks kind of silly.

- Is there a writing section during the interview? what is it about? And how much does it weight towards the admission?

There is a writing portion of the interview. I can't go into detail on what they asked, but know it is a question assessing your ethical views on a topic.

Essay question for me last year was the following:

You get a prescription from a patient and after contrasting with the patient's medical history, you realize there's a serious drug interaction. You call the doctor but the doctor tells you to dispense as written. What do you do?

There's no right or wrong answer as far as I know. you simply have to apply logical reasoning for your stance

From the website, it appears that your class has around 200 people? What is that like? Does it feel huge? Do you actually get to know people, or is it impersonal?

I am still deciding whether or not to complete the supplemental - the supp seems like a PITA (I haven't had a resume in years, so I would have to start from scratch to send a copy) and the group interview looks really intimidating (and I don't get the point - how do they get to know you in a group?).

I think that I want confirmation that you aren't just a number at this school.

I feel the least important part is probably the interview. As I stated in last year's thread, it's a group interview. They cannot adequately gauge how you are in a 30-minute interview with 5 other people. Everyone takes turn to answer, so only 4-5 questions are asked in the time allotted. I say the essay is more important because it's something they can actually refer to when they review applications.

In my opinion, this would be the breakdown:
grades 45%
pcat 30%
interview 10%
on-site essay 15%
(yes, what i'm saying is that if you have good grades and a good PCAT, you're pretty much in. I'm no adcom but you asked and I answered with my opinion)

sidenote: They serve food at the end of the interview which is awwweeeesssome. It's covered completely, so you can get as much as you want 😀

The campus is really nice. I wish my school had as much greenery as Midwestern. I took some pics because it felt like a "real" college campus, like ones you see on the brochure ads; maybe I should upload them?

Im pledging for a pharmacy fraternity so I am getting to know a lot of upperclassmen and other students in my class. It's also a lot easier to meet people when you live on campus. The size of the classroom have no impact on student to teacher interaction. The teachers are extremely accessible and are always willing to help you whenever you need it.

Also once you are in, you are divided into a group of 10 or so people and that will be your group for the duration of pharmacy school. Each group is given a faculty advisor and mentor. You will end up getting very close with this group. Like I said, your experience in pharmacy school is what you make of it. So don't worry about the class sizes, especially at this school.

How come this school require so many credits for GE electives (8 sem credits) and Social/Behavior Electives (6 sem credits)??

For "GE electives", I have Philosophy, Music (= 6 credits).
For Social/Behavior Electives, I have Psch & Sociology (= 7 credits).

Do i have enough here or I need 1 more GE class (since they ask for 8 credits)??

Just checked my portal and I have the accepted student checklist. But no phone call or anything. so hopefully that means I'm in. Cause that would be sweet and would lift a huge stress from my shoulders. I interviewed on Sept 29th also for some reference. Others check your status, good luck.

Because the pharmacy practice involves patient interaction/empathy/psychology of the patient & isn't all about science & drugs. As a pharmacist you will be talking to people on their level, no medical jargon allowed. Most pharmacy schools have similar requirements because of this, so I'm not sure why you're so surprised.

That is very likely. when I was invited to interview by Chicago on Oct 7, there was only one date left to choose whereas i was invited the next day to AZ, and they had about 6 dates to choose from. I guess it depends on if they want to open up dates for december or if they just wait until spring. good luck

I currently live in the dorms and I like it a lot! The rooms I stay is in connected in a jack and jill fashion where I share a bathroom with one other person. It's very spacious and accommodating. If you submit your housing contract early it will be very easy to get. I'm not so sure on the percentage of people that live on campus, but I know quite a few people that live off campus in apartment etc. The reason I chose to live in a dorm was to get acclimated to pharmacy school life, meet people, and find potential roommates for next year. Some people choose to eat in the cafeteria, it kind of depends on the meal plan you have. Each floor has their own mini kitchen, but the basement floor has a full kitchen with everything you need to make a Thanks Giving dinner lol. You could for sure bring a small rice cooker. I have the interview on Nov 17th, and once you agree to a date they send you an email saying you need to be at the campus by 8:45 AM and that we will finish by approximately 1:00PM. So I think you'll be able to catch a flight the same day.
